Galgos 112 have worked for many years rescuing and rehoming abandoned and injured galgos and some podencos in the Barcelona area. Here are the stories of 4 hounds recently rescued.
‘This is ARIN, he lay down at the door of Ainara and Ander because he couldn’t take it anymore. When the family dog began to cry and bark at the door, they went out to see what was happening, and there he was, without strength, unable to take another step.
Fortunately he went to the best hands. They took him in his arms, took him inside and gave him food and drink. He was taken to the vet and he contacted us.
He only weighed 17kg, is about 2 years old and has a scar on his neck where the microchip used to be, in addition to a lot of wounds in his malnourished body. Ainara and Ander have decided to be his foster home until they find a family. His happy face says it all. Now Arin knows that nothing bad will happen to him, and that he will no longer have to roam the mountain looking for something to eat.
We rescued VALENTÍN on 14 February … we couldn’t have chosen a more suitable name for him. He is a young, friendly, and beautiful galgo inside and out, despite all the huge scars that run along his body.
Welcome to Greyhounds 112, now to rest and recover.
This is Khan, a galgo who, like so many others, had been abandoned to his fate with a broken leg. Eventually we caught him and he was directly admitted to one of the veterinary clinics that collaborate with us.
Khan has a complicated fracture of the ulna and radius, probably abandoned for that reason, it is not a few days ago: bone callus has already formed.
His leg was very inflamed, the bone has come to break his skin. This morning they had to remove some bone fragments that were going to give him problems. His recovery will be expensive, but he is a young galgo and we are sure that this leg will recover. We do not want to imagine the pain that will have passed.
We need your help again to pay the bills of Kan and so many others.
Pep is an older podenco who was recently adopted. ‘A few days ago Grandpa Hope, he was adopted!!
Now his name is Pep, and he has a human family and a dog sister who didn’t care about his age, or had a heart murmur.
We are very happy to know that there are people who adopt with the heart, helping those who need it most.
We are sure that Pep will be very happy with Sergi and Ana. Congratulations family and thank you so much for adopting!
Many thanks to Roger and Laura, his host family, for having taken him out of the street and taking care of him all these months.
I haven’t been able to copy the photos of the hounds but you can see them all on this weblink.
