Join the CREL Federation to fight the abuse of galgos and podencos
Jerome Guillot is a friend from some years ago when we travelled as members of the L’Europe des Levriers team into Spain to bring back galgos and podencos to France for homing.Jerome is the founder of the association CREL and was also one of the original organisers of the Strasboug march to publicise the plight of the galgos and podencos. Here’s the latest news from him.
‘I am jérôme guillot, founder of the CREL association for the protection of galgos and podencos in July 2009 and sponsored by MICHÈLE STRIFFLER MEP 2009-2014. At our last general assembly, all members voted for the CREL to become a federation .
It is now done, an avocate specializing in foundations has drafted the statutes of the Federation. The aim is to bring together all the European Greyhound/Galgo Protection Associations, initially, to put pressure on MEPs and governments. The Union will make strength, we must unite to fight against the abuse inflicted on greyhound and podencos in Spain, Ireland and elsewhere.
We invite associations to become members of the federation…Already 23 associations have joined – 17 French, 5 Spanish and 1 SLOVENIAN
Find out, visit the website, join the Crel Federation. We are at your disposal.

Trek for tech – raising funds for Scooby Protectora
I’ve only just found this story, so apologies for it being a little late, but good to read. Translation from Italian. She did it! Ruth has completed her “Trek for Tech”.
She traveled 115 km and collected more than 2,000 € for the purchase of laser equipment and magnetic therapy.
Ruth ended her journey the same day the Scooby transporter crossed the finish line, with her load of dogs and cats reaching their new families in the Netherlands.
Two very special events for the animals, which occurred on the same day.
Thanks to the Scooby drivers who drive for hours, to accompany the animals to the families that will welcome them with love, thanks to Ruth for completing her trekking along the Way, and a big thank you to all the donors who supported her.

Stop fundraiser galgo racing in Osuna, Spain…s & s before 3rd November
Please sign and share widely urgently. Translation of first couple of paragraphs.
We asked Brígida Pachón, municipal delegate of Social Welfare, to suspend the competition of Galgos and avoid animal abuse and adopt measures of assistance and improvement of the quality of life of the ursaonenses with functional diversity without twists and turns.
We say no to an act that includes animal abuse (competition of greyhounds and this year hares are rabies because they are sick) and that puts as an excuse the presumed benefit of people with special needs. The City Council of Osuna announced the ninth edition of an event with a supposed end of fundraising for a Center for Horse Therapy and horse-assisted interventions.

Galgo Candido – sick and starving on the streets of Segovia
‘You killed him. Damn. Scoundrels. Scum.
Same as usual. The unspeakable. Those who have them as mere tools, as machines to make money for you to live the story. Those who are always unpunished, those who believe in caches, those who blow their bodies and their souls. Damn. When you left him you knew he was sick, and you also knew that only 3 months old, only on the street, he wouldn’t survive. Cowards.
What kind of trash are you to throw a puppy out in those conditions, infected with parvovirus, starving, completely dehydrated, without being able to stand up? Damn you. Damn.
Disgust of you and shame of some authorities who do absolutely nothing to solve this problem in Segovia, and we are always the same volunteers who have to break inside and out. Sick of you. Damn.
Candido, little boy, we are so sorry. Run free like the beautiful galgo you should, have been up there between the clouds. Don’t think about everything you suffered, remember our hugs. We love you.’

Saved from the Malaga storms – safe with Ann’s Canine Care
During the storms in Malaga a completely starved galga was found on the street. Ann Marie Payne of Ann’s Canine Care immediately promised to take her in. Poor hound is full of wounds, we don’t know what she has been through, and it looks like she’s pregnant. Ann is taking her to her vet tomorrow. Let’s hope the best that Monica, apart from her injuries, is healthy.Ann is naturally happy about any support in the form of donations or sponsorships.
