  • PACMA demand talks with the DG of the Civil Guard about abuse and abandonment of hunting dogs in Spain

PACMA have the following update on the situation of the 32 dogs found dead at Badajoz.

‘We have requested an urgent meeting with the Director General of the Civil Guard to address the problem of the systematic abuse and abandonment of dogs used in hunting, who live in deplorable conditions and suffer especially during the summer.

We are doing so after learning, just a few days ago, of the starvation death of a pack of 32 dogs in Azuaga (Badajoz). We travelled to learn firsthand what happened and to ask the City Council to make a public statement and to take part in the case (watch the video here).

    From Galgos 112

Have you thought about it, meditated, balance the pros and cons… but you don’t want a dog that’s too “active”.. Have you thought about a grandpa or grandma?

And why not?….. Growing up doesn’t mean they have nothing left to give..

They are caring, calm, understand perfectly the basic rules, they do not need so much activity as a younger one, they have not lost curiosity to know new places and things

  • Proyecto Galgo Argentina – time to properly regulate the perreras

    From Proyecto Galgo Argentina

We request the opening of the zoonosis (perreras) centers and kennels of Santa Cruz

By this means, we request all localities in the Province of Santa Cruz to guarantee the opening to the public of zoonosis centers and municipal kennels, where animals removed from public roads are housed.

This request is based on the right to access to information, the ordinances in force in each locality and, mainly, in compliance with the National Animal Protection Act N. ° 14.346/54, which establishes the duty of providing dignified treatment to animals.

  • Start of hunting season in Spain

    From Galgos 112

On August 10, the “hunting tooth in hand” period of rabbit begins in Andalucia. It’s a minor type of hunting in which dogs are used to track and capture pieces, without the use of firearms. The terror begins for the poor dogs that won’t stop until February.

We are noticing how the date is getting closer by the number of greyhounds and podencos that appear lying around: now is when they start to take them out of the zulus to prepare and test them. Every day there are new ones abandoned, they are the ones that aren’t strong or the ones that don’t serve them to hunt.

  • 3 abandoned galgo puppies now safe with Galgos Rescue Almeria

    From Galgos Rescue Almeria

A couple of days ago while we were on our way to a vet appointment with sick Podenca Amira, we received an unexpected call from our vet in Huércal-Overa. Three Galgo puppies had been abandoned at the practice, and the question was simple but urgent: can you help?

Apparently, the three little ones had already spent three days in a small yard, without food or water. The police were contacted, but unfortunately, they didn’t respond immediately. Fortunately, a concerned person took matters into their own hands and eventually brought the puppies to the vet. Thanks to this act of compassion, they are now safe.

  • Galga Mila in recovery

Update on Galga Mila with Galgos 112, with terrible face injuries.

‘Million thanks to all the people whose donations are helping Mila’s recovery. She is brave, eats a soft diet because of her wound in the mouth, but she tolerates food and medication well. The analytics indicate anemia already in treatment and lehismania. As soon as Dr. Cruz gives hers the hospital discharge, he will travel to Barcelona to finish recovering and start the treatment of lehismania.

Million thanks, without you it would be impossible to save so many lives.
