  • Galga Mila with terrible facial injuries – abandoned and suffering

    From Galgos 112.

This galga was abandoned with a terrible face injury. People walked by and ignored her until some volunteers collected her and took her to the Galgos 112 shelter.

Mila has already been surgically operated on. She’s had to nucleate the eye and trigger the jaw, it presents a hole in the palate that almost connects to the eye. Doctor Cruz tells us that Mila couldn’t open her mouth and that these serious injuries are not recent, meaning that the suffering they have caused her is unimaginable.

We have space available on transport in July and August and we want as many seniors on it as possible. But we cannot take them without your help!

You know the tragic stories of Marifel and Magdalena, how it was too late for them. We cannot let that happen again without fighting to save these seniors.

  • Breeding Greyhounds in China

We know the Spanish galgueros are bastards to their galgos and podencos – treated like a tool with no feelings.

Every year hundreds of greyhounds are exported from Ireland, England, Australia – to China. In China they are raced, bred, and then end up caged on a meat lorry for killing. They eat greyhounds in China!

This photo illustrates the extraction of semen from a greyhound to use for breeding.

  • Treating eye infection in your dog

The third eye of my Podenca Andaluz Rosie came up at the beginning of last week. She lost her appetite and was quite depressed. The third eyelid covered half of her right eye, so I took her off to see my lovely Dutch vet Hetty. After checking for grass seed or rose thorn, neither of which she found, she prescribed eye ointment Chloramphenicol 1.0%. Researching it on the Internet, as one does, it is described as an ointment for treating conjunctivitis in humans. However, on some veterinary websites, it is the recommended treatment.

I trust Hetty implicitly so followed her advice to clean round Rosie’s eye and apply the ointment 4x/day and to get back in touch with her in 2 weeks if there was still a problem. I have followed instructions religiously and have to say that Rosie is the perfect patient. She sits quietly, as though she knows I am trying to help her.

  • Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert – another victim of a Spanish road traffic accident

The Cruelty of Abandonment of a Hunting Dog: The Pain of a Shattered Galga. She’s been run over. Came to Fundación Benjamín Mehnert in the state you see in the video below.

This galga is a direct victim of irresponsible abandonment, a cruel practice that condemns thousands of animals, especially greyhounds and hunting dogs, to unimaginable suffering. Having served for the hunt, many are discarded mercilessly, left to their luck on roads and paths, where they face constant dangers and certain death or lives filled with pain.

We demand laws that actually protect these defenseless beings.
