  • PACMA Trying to get justice for the 32 in Badajoz – 14 september

32 dogs died of hunger and abandonment in Azuaga (Badajoz).

They weren’t found in time, they didn’t get a second chance. They died slowly, silently, victims of indifference and a system that continues to allow mistreatment and impunity.

On Sunday, September 14, we have the opportunity to raise our voice for them and for all the animals who still suffer. We can’t look away.

Sunday 14 September 11:00 a 13:00h Plaza de la Merced (in front of the City Hall) – Azuaga

Because society no longer tolerates these atrocities.

Because their deaths cannot be forgotten.

Because we don’t want more invisible victims.

Come, join us, share and join the collective cry:

    LET IT NOT BE REPEATED

We don’t stop. We are desperate. The galgueros don’t stop dumping and abandoning dogs destined for hunting. This galgo was abandoned in a village of Jaén. They’ve been behind her for 5 days to rescue her. He could have starved to death or a heat stroke, it’s coming very badly. She is now safe at our shelter.

  • Ban hunting with Spanish galgos – it’s all about money!

Video of galgos hunting. Why all the horses?!! Good on the hare for putting up such a good run – sad the circumstances – all for sick human ‘entertainment’.

  • Galgos in Chile – they suffer abuse too

Argentina and Chile both use galgos for hunting. Every year, more than 500 greyhounds are abandoned in Chile after being exploited in racing and hunting. Galgos Chile have been working since 2018 to rescue, rehabilitate, and rewrite the destiny of greyhounds in Chile. Because they didn’t choose their past, but you can choose their future. You can be part of their rescue and give them a loving home.

This is the story of Galgos Chile, translated into English if your computer doesn’t automatically translate the Spanish.

  • This week is National Greyhound Week

Racing with greyhounds is NOT a sport, too many are injured, die or are exported to Asia where they have a hellish rest-of-life and end up in a dog meat slaughterhouse. UK and Irish greyhounds suffer, as well as the galgos.

  • Competition galgos stolen and mutilated in Seville

    From Plataforma NAC

‘The #CivilGuard of #Sevilla has detained two involved in the robbery and mutilation of two competition #galgos on a property in the Seville town of #VillanuevadelAriscal.

The investigation began following the #complaint filed by the owner of the estate for the #theft of two competition greyhounds with a “high economic value”, the Seville Civil Guard reported in a statement.

During the investigation, the #agents found that the alleged perpetrators took advantage of the absence of the owner of the house during the celebration of the patron holidays of the town of Aljarafeña to commit the robbery. The castrated #animals were located in a home in a neighborhood on the outskirts of the capital Seville.

  • Comment on the situation for the hunting dogs of Spain

    https://elasombrario.publico.es/la-foto-de-la-verguenza-de-32-galgos-abandonados-encadenados-muertos/

English translation of the article written by Norma Fierro.

I suppose most of you have seen the horrific images from last week of 32 dead greyhounds in a pack of dogs in Badajoz. They died of starvation, thirst, and chained up. Those who managed to break free from their chains out of desperation tried to eat their dead companions to survive. The photo is horrifying, all those poor dogs killed by the abuse and abhorrent neglect of a hunter. Today you will hear me, because no one listened to these 32 greyhounds. This is the photo that portrays not only the absolute evil of the murderous hunter who caused this barbarity, but it is also a photo of the disastrous political decisions . It is the photo that the so-called National Animal Protection Law has given us.

  • PACMA demand talks with the DG of the Civil Guard about abuse and abandonment of hunting dogs in Spain

PACMA have the following update on the situation of the 32 dogs found dead at Badajoz.

‘We have requested an urgent meeting with the Director General of the Civil Guard to address the problem of the systematic abuse and abandonment of dogs used in hunting, who live in deplorable conditions and suffer especially during the summer.

We are doing so after learning, just a few days ago, of the starvation death of a pack of 32 dogs in Azuaga (Badajoz). We travelled to learn firsthand what happened and to ask the City Council to make a public statement and to take part in the case (watch the video here).

  • Foster or Adopt a Senior – they have just as much love to give

    From Galgos 112

Have you thought about it, meditated, balance the pros and cons… but you don’t want a dog that’s too “active”.. Have you thought about a grandpa or grandma?

And why not?….. Growing up doesn’t mean they have nothing left to give..

They are caring, calm, understand perfectly the basic rules, they do not need so much activity as a younger one, they have not lost curiosity to know new places and things
