  • OUTRAGEOUS! Andalucia Junta authorizes hunters to beat dogs to death!! Protest NOW!

IMMEDIATE CESSATION of killing dogs in PUNTA UMBRIA (Huelva), Spain

Created by: Observatory justice and defense Animal www.justiciaydefensaanimal.es, Spain

The Junta de Andalucía has authorized beating to death of dogs by members of the society of hunters of Punta Umbria, to kill animals abandoned in the streets of Punta Umbria, Huelva. It is urgent to halt the killing.

Pets abandoned to their fate are victims of the human carelessness and the lack of control measures by the Administration, which must always act in accordance with the legislation on animal protection imposed by the capture and handling of animals avoiding violent methods or that they pose harm to the animal.

  • Medina del Campo – 7 galgos suffocate to death in a hunting trailer!

Hunting trailer 250 9 2012Last week, 7 galgos sufficated in a trailer during a hunting match in Medina del Campo! How is this possible? How can they suffocate in a trailer? How?? Think about that! Do they put them there on top of each other or what? How these poor dogs have to suffer is incredible! One Spanish volunteer speaks for all of us saying ‘this demonstrates how to you, nasty galgueros, the life of these creatures has the minimum value. Go to hell!’

This is a note from an article on travelling dogs in trailers. I don’t think the galgueros have heard of this!

‘Safety regulations regarding animal transport are strict in Europ. They include laws regarding proper animal handling, regarding allowing the animal to have sufficient room and regarding making sure the animal is fed and watered regularly’

The above photo was taken at a garage in Malaga, Spain, September 2012. Typical of the trailers used in Spain and France for transporting hunting dogs!

  • Cuenca – 27 galgos arrived at Scooby – they need homes!

You will remember the appeal to save the Cuenca refuge being changed back into a perrera. Scooby have taken 27 galgos from there. They arrived on January 10th.
Cristina and Simonetta, an Italian volunteer, left at 6 in the morning to get the dogs to Scooby. So it was a double women power transport and it worked very well!
We hope we can soon release them into a new life as beloved pets and we count on you to make our hope become reality! See the video. They need money for food, vet fees and, of course, homes! http://www.scoobymedina.org

  • Galgo Manolo in Valladolid – Scooby looks for a family for him

Scooby Manolo 2 200 1 2013Not all galgueros are complete bastards – like the one who deliberately left galga Gala with two broken legs out in the campo in Andalucia – to starve to death in great pain. Manolo was left with Scooby Residencia Valladolid. Here Cobie tells his tale.

MANOLO was left behind in the residencia because he was ‘no good for hunting’, said the galguero. I´m sure the galguero was no good for the dog because every galgo is a champion! Manolo is very lucky because now he can start a better and happy life with a caring family who will love him dearly because he is young, 2 and a half years old, very handsome, playful, super sweet and nice, has no fear and loves all other dogs and, even more, loves people. For adoption, contact Scooby
