  • Black is very beautiful – adopt a black galgo – Gandalf and Romero need a home

Black is beautiful. There is nothing more stunning that a shiny black coat, sparkling with good health, finished off with a patterned collar. These two black boys have been overlooked for long enough. They desperately need their forever homes.

Romero was abandoned as a pup with a badly injured infected leg. Fearful of humans, he was nursed back to health by Gaynor and is in foster with Lisa who is working wonders teaching him what it is like to be loved. Contact Tina at Galgos del Sol to offer him his forever home, he so deserves one.

    Gandalf
is also in foster, another black beauty overlooked in favour of others. He’s a happy dog and would make a fantastic companion, giving love for the rest of his life. Video of Gandalf. Contact Tina or Charl about him.

Please give these two boys a chance.

  • Galgos saved from death – please donate to vet fees

Bombero and Cremo 1 17 01 2011 250 The perreras in Spain are full to bursting with abandoned dogs, especially galgos now that the hunting season is drawing to a close. Despite all the ones rescued from Jerez perrera, Cadiz, there are still more than a couple of dozen there, awaiting a painful death. At El Paraiso perrera, they are feeding the galgos, hoping someone will rescue them. Several have been taken to foster homes already, and two more were taken out last weekend. White ones, which were once regarded as THE most important galgo to the Spanish aristocracy.

  • Galgos France – Feliz Navidad and forever homes wanted

Here’s an absolutely beautiful video of the dogs looking for forever homes with Galgos France, including little chocolate coloured podenca Mary, which Charl del Rio rescued from abandonment at a petrol filling station in southern Spain. Contact Charl if you can offer a home to Mary.

  • Help feed the rescued galgos and podencos in Spain

BettysBetty’s Original are purveyors of natural dog food which is wheat, gluten and dairy free and is particularly good for rescue dogs, who have very often been abandoned and had to scavenge for whatever they can find to stay alive.

I’m pleased to say they have kindly offered a special reduced price deal to readers of Galgo News whereby if you order dog food through them, you can nominate it to be delivered to either Tina Solera, Perros del Sol at Los Infiernos Refuge, who has rescued dozens of abandoned galgos during the course of the last 12 months, or Charl del Rio, who has three or four dogs in kennels until they are adopted.

All you need to do is click on this link to the Betty’s Original site and you will see the two rescue centres you can help.

Click on either of the two boxes, Perros del Sol for Tina or 112 Carlota Galgos for Charl. Then click on ‘My Account’ and create an account.

It is as easy as that! Betty’s will then contact your nominated person and find out what food they desperately need at that particular point in time. You can pay either by credit card or Paypal. Any problems, email Betty’s Original direct.

Poster Bec 05 2010 250 Regular readers will know that, for the past 3 years at the beginning of December, Charl has organised a Fiesta des Galgos in Malaga, where she lives. She’s just formed her own association 112carlotagalgos and from 12th -19th September, Fiesta des Galgos goes International!

It commences with Lisa’s 5,000ft parachute jump on 12th September, which is the same day as my own Fete des Galgos at my home in France. My event is a Fun Dog Show, plus Craft Fair, Have A Go Archery and display of classic and interesting cars and bikes. The following weekend on 19th September, GRIN in the US are holding a BIG galgo picnic.

  • Podenca Mary, Galga Dana, 112carlotagalgos-desperately needing help

Mary in kennels 01 09 2010.JPG cropped You will remember I posted about the rescue by Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos (newly formed association) of Mary, the podenca puppy abandoned at a petrol filling station. Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous? And also Dana, a galga in kennels who is very stressed by her situation.

Charl’s association 112carlotagalgos, is just born, and so doesn’t have any backup funds -any which have been donated so far have gone out immediately to pay for vet fees and kennel costs for these two deserving dogs.
