The perreras in Spain are full to bursting with abandoned dogs, especially galgos now that the hunting season is drawing to a close. Despite all the ones rescued from Jerez perrera, Cadiz, there are still more than a couple of dozen there, awaiting a painful death. At El Paraiso perrera, they are feeding the galgos, hoping someone will rescue them. Several have been taken to foster homes already, and two more were taken out last weekend. White ones, which were once regarded as THE most important galgo to the Spanish aristocracy.
These two white galgos are Bombero and Crema from El Paraiso, the brindle bitch is Risa from the Jerez perrera – only a year old and dumped to be killed! They are in the care of Charl del Rio APGE 112carlotagalgos. They need microchipping, vaccinations, blood tests and neutering, and donations are desperately needed. Please donate by Paypal to comdelrio@hotmail.com, your help will really be appreciated, every little helps this small association. If you can offer a forever home, please also email Charl.
Update 20 01 2011 – These two white beauties have now gone to foster in Belgium for rehoming. Brindle bitch Risa is still waiting. If you can, please donate to the vet fees to prepare her EU passport. She is due to be sterilized on Monday.
