  • Rocki’s story – a galgo mix adopted in Germany

Rocki to Germany June 2011 250 All too often, when bitches are abandoned, they come on heat and are covered by whatever male dogs get on their scent. They give birth and the litter can be a mixture of galgos and galgo mixes.

This is the story of one of those galgo mix puppies. Adopted from a Spanish shelter under the wings of Canispro, it’s a delightful tale of Rocki’s new life in Germany.

  • Cordoba galga and puppies – anyone any room for them?

Mami Cordoba 250 20 05 2011 Here is a nice story about a galga and her puppies – after two days of hard work and a long wait this family have been rescued. The pups were the first to be rescued, they are two females, Margarita and Alegría, and three males, Wolf, Flip and Taz. They’re small, about 2 or 3 months, and moderate size, have every appearance of galgos but with an abandoned galga mom, one can never be sure. The mom hasbeen called Mami; in order to catch her, one of the puppies was used as a decoy, to persuade her to follow the volunteers through streets in the city until they could catch her.

She is a beautiful young dog, large size, white with black spots, has a lot of fear but wants to be loving. The family are now safe, but El Arca de Noe has nowhere to put them, can anyone help? If you can help write to elarcadenoecordoba@gmail.com

UPDATE – I’m happy to report that this galga and puppies have now been taken in by two refuges.

  • Galgo Bracken – my latest foster dog, looking for his forever family

Bracken close up 250 This beautiful boy is Bracken. He was rescued earlier this year, waiting outside a supermarket with a badly injured front leg – the bone was sticking out. Even though he must have been in awful pain, he was still gentle and affectionate to those who took him in their loving care and back to a place of safety. The refuge vet operated on him and he was placed in foster car whilst his injury healed.

A couple of weeks ago he came to join my canine family at my home in France. He had been reserved by a lady in the UK but circumstances have changed and she can no longer take him. So he is now looking again for his forever home.
