  • Rey, King of the Galgos – needs your help

    Rey Charl 250 3 2012112carlotagalgos is a very small family association which concentrates on rescuing and rehabilitating traumatised, sick and injured galgos and podencos. Some months ago we told the story of Rey, abandoned, surviving on virtually nothing, he’d finally collapsed and almost given up the struggle. Some months on, he is doing ok, but a new problem has arisen. Rey needs help! He needs you, we need you! Here’s his story…

    Rey came to 112 Carlota Galgos several months ago, found giving up, life had let him down. He lay in the dust with life draining from him,.. down and out. He was seen and rescued. He stayed with his rescuer in Sevilla for a month and along with Polyana joined us at 112 carlota galgos for us to recouperate them and socialise them into family life.

    Rey .. seems he has everything against him, he is a black galgo in Spain, he is older and he is a natural hunter. He cannot be scolded for something which has been bred into him, he lived and kept himself alive by hunting. He is a hunter, he will hunt, and yet he will walk by your side like the gentlest galgo you know.

  • Death row in Perreras Jaen and Badajoz, starving on the streets of Cordoba

    And the poor cream galgo is wandering the streets, abandoned, in Cordoba. Scavenging around rubbish bins for what he can get, some people are leaving food in bags, he’s got an abandoned puppy for company.   • Aguilas, Spain – San Animal and Santuaro and Animal Hotel saving galgos

    Antoinette galgo pup 3a 250This is Maxima, one of three beautiful galgo pups saved from death row in the local perrera, where they were suffering from dehydration and diahorea, now in foster in Aguilas. The tiger-stripe one (bottom pix) is Kate, who is the noisiest and bossiest! No name with the top one. Photos taken when they were 3 months, old, now they are 5 months.   • Galga Esperanza – one year on – latest news

    Do you remember Esperanza – starved, badly beaten and left for dead in a rubbish skip by her bloody owner. Well, she beat the bastard, she didn’t die – and one year on you can see a video of her here, safe, loved and taking life steadily.

  • Madrid – sights to see

    Madrid Aroa 2 250 3 2012White galgos were always considered the ultimate by the Spanish aristocracy, and here are two beauties in Madrid, needing forever homes. Kendra is stunning with her different coloured eyes, and little Aroa was found alone on the street! Here are their stories.

    AROA – the police took Aroa and her little brother Arati off the street in a village near Madrid where they had been wandering for several days, looking for food. She is in foster, good in the house, with children, with other dogs and cats and, being only 5 months old, playful.
