  • Galgo/Podenco Tango – stunning hound waiting for his forever home

Just look at Tango, a galgo/podenco X in Lanzarote. He’s a star in obedience classes, could go on to agility. Only a young boy with years of life and love to give to that special person who will take him into their home and heart.

He is a fabulous dog – attentive, intelligent and above all really loving. He will melt you with his beautiful eyes. He is 6 years old and has been waiting patiently for his forever sofa for no particular reason. He has attended basic training and did incredibly well. He is in Lanzarote with The Kennel Klub but we will arrange transport for the right home.

Polar face 250Polar continues to behave like a naughty teenager! 1 year old this month and still collecting asbos every day and showing no evidence of any feeling of pain in his damaged hind leg.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with information about their experiences with handicapped dogs and with specialist orthopaedic veterinary practices, a couple of whom I have followed up.

  • Scooby Junta – the law on ‘training’ galgos from motorised vehicles

This note was sent by Cobie at Scooby Valladolid – you may remember last year the Junta proposed rescinding the law in Andalucia.

‘Good news: this letter, send to Fermin, informs that the junta de Andalucia will NOT approve the training from galgos behind motorised vehicles, it STAYS forbidden like in the rest from Spain!

    Fermin: ¡Lo hemos conseguido!

  • Pepis Dog Refuge – thanks to donators

Pepis kennel run 250Back from Spain now. Before I went, I scheduled some articles to publish whilst I was away and I hope you have found them interesting. One of the two refuges we visited was Pepis Dog Refuge in Pedrera and many of you very kindly sent parcels to me to take down to them. Below is Jane’s message to you all.

The weather was good whilst we were there but after we had left Pepis suffered yet another terrible mud slide all through the kennels and ground floor of the house – on Christmas Day! They have the most wonderful dogs at Pepis – over 70 – and some of them have been there since puppies – 3 or 4 years now (look at beautiful Sandy) – all waiting for forever homes. I’d have brought some of them back for me – except 5 dogs here is enough when taking into account dog food and vet fees/vaccinations etc! Please take a look at their dogs in adoption.

  • Update on Polar 21 11 2013

The canine physiotherapist who has been treating Polar wanted an up-to-date xray of his injured leg, as she felt there was a problem with his ligaments. As the previous xrays were taken in Spain at the beginning of April, and Polar has grown enormously since then, I thought it a good idea too.
