Back from Spain now. Before I went, I scheduled some articles to publish whilst I was away and I hope you have found them interesting. One of the two refuges we visited was Pepis Dog Refuge in Pedrera and many of you very kindly sent parcels to me to take down to them. Below is Jane’s message to you all.
The weather was good whilst we were there but after we had left Pepis suffered yet another terrible mud slide all through the kennels and ground floor of the house – on Christmas Day! They have the most wonderful dogs at Pepis – over 70 – and some of them have been there since puppies – 3 or 4 years now (look at beautiful Sandy) – all waiting for forever homes. I’d have brought some of them back for me – except 5 dogs here is enough when taking into account dog food and vet fees/vaccinations etc! Please take a look at their dogs in adoption.
Sidney is adorable, he dances on his hind legs – can’t believe no one has taken him. And Leila just wants to make a fuss of you and get lots of fuss back. And cute little Samuel – and Pebbles, a stunning small Dalmation – together with Tsar, an English Setter just arrived! Bill and Ben are beautiful podenco x basenji – stunning dogs! And a bored labrador who chases his tail sometimes. All waiting for forever homes – all fabulous dogs.
Whilst we were there, we saw a galguero running his 6 galgos alongside his motorcycle. Along the dirt track he came, up the hill, and about 10 minutes later he was back along the lower track, still running the galgos. They had obviously had enough, were trying to trot down to walk but he ignored them – just motored on dragging them behind him!
We also watched another man setting traps on the hillside, probably for rabbits.
Here are Jane’s thanks. And I’d like to add mine – you are wonderful supporters of the appeals I run and this one was no exception. Many of the dogs coats were soon put to good use.
First of all we have to say how lovely it was to finally meet David and Beryl Brennan, when they visited our refuge this Christmas, bringing with them all the way from France, the many many things that had very kindly been donated, for David and Beryl to bring with them. These are just some of the things, many have already been put to use, due to the bad weather we had, so we would like to take this opportunity to thank

oh no as if things ant bad enough for jane alan and the dogs hope they are sorted in the best way pos what a shame see this is one of the reasons i cant visit i wouldnt be able to keep my mouth shut if i seen that the way i am when it comes to animals poor souls dragging them against their will its not on the sooner someone gets through to these idiots the better
They have some lovely dogs there. Alan and Jane do a wonderful job and it must be so stressful. A mud slide on Christmas day! I set up a monthly standing order to go to Pepis just before Christmas and intend to support when I can with extra donations.
So pleased your visit went well… and I am sure the stress Alan and Jane must be going through was greatly relived by seeing friendly faces and knowing we are all thinking of them… Wishing everyone a happy new year. x
My heart went out to these two lovely people at Christmas and I didn´t even ask how the dogs were after the mudslide and rain because there´s no need. You just know, without doubtthat Jane and Brian would have put the dogs first and made sure that they were fine before dealing with their own mess.
I’ll pop over another donation….
Yes, the dogs were first to sort out. Alan’s devastated to have lost his new tool shed and tools which were next to the caravan on the hill. Also their solar power for the caravan. No justice – they don’t deserve to suffer like this.
Photos of the damage and mud will be published on Podenco Post this afternoon. http://www.podencopost.com
Thank you all for caring.
put another donation over friday gone
