The Scooby Residencia in Valladolid is now OPEN! It has been designed and constructed to hold approximately 30 dogs. Part of the Residencia is a refuge for Scooby dogs and part is kennels. The kennels are available to rent so if you are driving through Spain and want somewhere to put your dogs, please contact Cobie, who lives on site. And any donations of food, medicines, bedding etc will be gratefully received. Take a look at the website.

What a beautiful face. Another gorgeous galga abandoned and injured on the streets of Cuenca. Here is her story.

Burgos perrera, white galgo on death row – Seville, Mama galga and 8 puppies, anyone help?
In Spanish history, the White Galgo was revered – it was second in importance only to the birth of a son. There was even a Royal Medal awarded to the white galgo. How they have fallen. This white beauty is in the Burgos perrera, awaiting a painful death. If you have room for him, please contact laura@adoptanos.com

or Maribel maribeljerezsos2@gmail.com (and pray for the other dogs with him on death row)And this tale is all too often told, heartbreakingly sad for all the animals involved.

Galga shot in the head – saved by the vet – the true Spain!
This galga has been shot in the head. I don’t know the story behind how she was found – I’m waiting for the details – but suffice to say she was still alive when taken to the vet, who at the time of my receiving the photo, was operating to save her.
The hunters in France, where I live, are lethal in more than one way! Around our home and land, their shooting days are Thursdays and Sundays. We keep our cat and dogs shut in the house on those days; the cat is shut in all day, much to her disgust; the dogs are only let out in the courtyard.
