This galga has been shot in the head. I don’t know the story behind how she was found – I’m waiting for the details – but suffice to say she was still alive when taken to the vet, who at the time of my receiving the photo, was operating to save her.
The hunters in France, where I live, are lethal in more than one way! Around our home and land, their shooting days are Thursdays and Sundays. We keep our cat and dogs shut in the house on those days; the cat is shut in all day, much to her disgust; the dogs are only let out in the courtyard.
A French hunter will shoot anything which moves, which includes his dog, his wife, his hunter friends. Especially if he has partaken of the traditional four-course French lunch with copious amounts of red wine.
So, how are the Spanish hunters any different. Shoot anything which moves…………never mind whether you kill it or not!
If you can help with her care, please contact Pro-Galgo here.

and beryl, it is not proved that it was a hunter, it has happend in the middle of the little town during the day , the dog was seen for days before in the streets abandoned and without the injuries.
any idiot could have done it, some bored youngsters, what ever…

how sad is this. spain, once again living up to their reputation of animal abusers. this place is hell on earth for any animal. with all the bad publicity they keep getting on cruelty to animals, i’m very surprised they have any tourists at all. no animal loving person wd want to go there. i wish they could ship out all the animals to humane countries and bomb spain.
Hi
I agree it is desperately sad. And sad also that the tourist industry flourished whilst so much animal abuse and cruelty goes on behind the glitter. But we could not find a country in the world where animal abuse does not happen, and I wouldnt want to bomb Spain, there are thousands of lovely people there, especially all those who do care for the animals and help sayd them – and it has some beautiful buildings. We just have to keep plugging on with the publicity and appeals and letter writing and hope we make a difference one day.

hi beryl,
here the news:
FATIMA is in foster care from saturday on until tomorow morning, so she does not have to stay in this small kennel in the clinic. she behaves perfect! Is housetrained and very kind
tomoroww they make an ultrasound on her pelvis area to make sure she has no dead pup inside.
she is a very good girl and surprisingly freindly to the people, even to men.
unfurtunatly she has lost her vision on one eye but the other one is perfect!
thanks for caring and pls keep donating, we only have received 80eur by now!!!
not all spain si mistreatment and cruelty!
our best rescue workers are all spanish and very big animal lovers. and it realy depends on the area where you are, the catalonian part of spain is miles ahead from the rest , that’s why i live here 😉
don’t blame all spanish for what’s going on in spain, we also do not blame all french for the force feeding of the “foie gras” goose
in spain we have very good adoptants for our galgos, like the people from RANDY or from our puppies.
Bonjour Mo
Thank you for the update. Galgos never cease to amaze me, the cruelty they suffer and they come back with love to give and a wag in their tail! Bless you and your vet and all the wonderful people who are caring for this deserving galga. Hopefully people will continue to donate to help pay the vet fees, and that you can find her a marvellous forever home.
Hugs

So glad the Vet saved the dog. There has to be a better way. People need to be educated.
I wish all of the hunters would just shoot each other and make the world a safer place for the rest of us who like having animals around!!!!

Hi
You are right, so many associations now are working
at educating the younger generations that cruelty to animals is not acceptable –
they go into schools, hold clubs, have them to visit their homes and meet the
galgos. We all have to keep on and on protesting and
publicising and helping the associations.
Thanks for caring and commenting.
