Save the Galgo – Stop the suffering

It’s been a never-ending struggle for all the rescue associations in Spain, coping with thousands of galgos and podencos, as well as the thousands of other abandoned and maltreated dogs of Spain. And now, before last season’s detritus has been coped with, the bloody hunters are already abandoning this year’s rejects. Loose on the roads of Andalucia, Murcia….how can the bastards deny what we all know – the majority of them don’t give a bloody damn about the dogs they don’t want to keep.
Be strong, Spanish volunteers, we are all with you as much as we can be.
The Scooby Residencia in Valladolid is now OPEN! It has been designed and constructed to hold approximately 30 dogs. Part of the Residencia is a refuge for Scooby dogs and part is kennels. The kennels are available to rent so if you are driving through Spain and want somewhere to put your dogs, please contact Cobie, who lives on site. What a beautiful face. Another gorgeous galga abandoned and injured on the streets of Cuenca. Here is her story.
‘Emy was brought to us this morning from Cuenca. Emilio picked her up last night, completely terrified with a large wound in her leg. She had been wandering for several days tghrough the town but no one had stopped to help, not uncommon in this country of savages.
The hunting season is now over and hunters are getting rid of their ‘4-footed tools’!
These are the Perricos to be slaughtered in a few days at the Zaragoza perrera. This is the appeal I received
‘We are only two volunteers who have many dogs in kennels which we pay the fees and we can’t take any more dogs. We have all this responsibility on our shoulders and we desperately need adopters for the dogs in our care, and more so we need special people who can rescue these young podencos before they are sacrificed in a few days.
Please can any associations help this brave lady? Here’s the appeal I received.
CAN YOU HELP SAVE THESE GALGOS, PLEASE?
These galgos are in a shanty town in Sevilla. For two years Inmaculada has been rehoming them little by little. She doesn’t have photos of them all as the people become very angry and won’t allow her in the place. There were eight females, seven males and six mixed breed.

El Seprona rescues 24 galgos in very poor hygienic and sanitary condition. Owner accused of falsifying their health cards and illegally vaccinating
The Service for the Protection of Nature of the Guardia Civil (Seprona) has rescued 24 dogs from a rural property in Parla that were in “very poor sanitary conditions, ” accusing the owner of the animals for falsifying the health files and vaccinated illegally.
With the hundreds of animals to care for, especially the lastest 130 galgos from Cadiz, Scooby is desperately needs to raise funds. Here’s a plea from Diane at Scooby.

The Scooby Shop at the shelter is in desperate need of fancy martingale collars. The shelter sells these collars to make money for the animals in the shelter. They are a huge hit at events and Scooby Open House Days as well as on adoption days. As you can imagine, they look beautiful on the Galgos!

How did you spend Xmas and the New Year? Thousands of galgos spent theirs either dumped in a killing station waiting to die, or abandoned, searching for food and shelter.
