Received from Nuria Blanco, Amigos de los Galgos, who has been fighting the cause for the galgos for decades. It’s a miracle the dog didn’t seriously injure itself.
‘It is worth we keep on fighting for them isn´it ?
This is in Ciudad Real, Quintanar de la Orden. Castilla La Mancha

Did anyone call Seprona?
What happened to that poor galgo? And what happens to the others in that house?
It is a miracle that the galgo who sprang out of the window, did not break his spinal cord or a leg outright…
Poor souls… How hungry must they have been to spring out of the window.
Spain is really incredible.
If I would see something like this here in Brampton (ON, Canada), I would call the Animal Control and within an hour they would confiscate all the dogs.
Spain is really in the Middle Ages. Too bad for the few people who care about animals there.

Tünde, das ist ein Zigeunerquartier, das sind mafiaähnliche Strukturen!
These is a gipsy-quarter, structures there are like mafia in Italy / US …
Neighbours and others are very afraid of them …
I asked a friend living near Sevilla and working with Anne Finch what can be done. This was her answer:
“I think that Nuria should take her video to a local newspaper orTV station and suggest that they interview the Guardia Civil or Seprona and ask them why they have done nothing. Also, if she can get a local protectors , they can have more weight with Seprona and they WILL go to the press with the video!!!! I’m sure people in the area have seen this and they will do something. There must be some animal shelter nearby!!
This town is in the province of Toledo, quite near (less that one hundred kilometres) from Madrid. I am wondering if the Federacion Española de Galgueros might be able to do something about it. They were the ones who organised the platform with Anne Finch for improving conditions for the galgos? I’ve sent them a link to the video to see if they will do something as they had influence with the Minstry of Agriculture. Probably, they won’t bother, but who knows!
This is a terrible video. It is incredible to think of the passivity of the authorities, but it seems that several neighbours of the , of course, gypsy owners, have been threatened by them. …”
In Hungary the local authorities are afraid of the Gypsies, too. It happens regularly, that there are dogs kept in bad conditions in a Gypsy area and no one dares to intervene.
After working with the Hungarian sighthound rescue I have a strong feeling of déja vu now…..

Have forwarded your comment on to Nuria, as so many
people asking what happened to the dogs. Also, Toledo is I think a lot
further from Madrid, and there doesnt seem to be a shelter there for the galgos
– that@s why Sandra Baas of Baas Galgo is trying to
raise funds to build one. Thanks for sharing the info.

Waiting for more news. Beryl
There is a comment in youtube: Rescatados
I would be happy, if it is true.
I “love” such comments which brings up more questions than answering one …
Is the one which escaped, safe, are all safe? Did Seprona do something.
OMG …. they could post 2 word more ….
I found this Spanish text in one of the comments:
“Denuncias por email seprona@guardiacivil org y también en dg-seprona-jefatura@guardiacivil org no olvidar poner el . antes del org y sin espacios”
Does that mean we can write to this address about the issue? That the Seprona takes some kind of action?
Unfortunately I can not understand the text as it is in Spanish…….. (please help….)
🙂

Update from Nuria. ‘I have tried to do something about the case of these creatures, but I have just been told that , fortunately enough, they had been rescued the next day of the reporting of the video. It is difficult sometimes to have the info which is circulating through the net updated.
There were 3 males et 3 females, belonged to the gypsies once alerted the civil guard and the police it seems that they did not want to go , they never want to be involved when it deals with the gypsies, I have experience in this when I myself have called to them in similar situations.
The one of the window was rescued at this moment. No problem.’
Ah this is good news!
I think the people who post such a video should regularly uupdate on the situation of the involved animals to prevent unnecessary actions by the international community.
The good thing is that you can update the information on YouTube as it is possible to write comments there. Which is really very handy in such situations.

According to the information on SOS-galgos.net, a German animal protection blog, the Seprona is taking action against the owners of the 6 rescued galgos.
Moreover, the person in authority in the ministerium of Castilla la Mancha announced a new policy of zero tolerance regarding animal cruelty of this kind. He encouraged everyone to notify the ministerium when witnessing such offences.
Let’s hope that the authorities will keep their word.
According to SOS Galgos the rescue was executed by some privat persons and the following rescue organisations: ACUNR and ASOCIACIÓN MIRADA ANIMAL DE TOLEDO. The rescued galgos were full of fleas.
