  • Transport from Spain to Germany – dogs and cats die in the heat!

    With the open borders in Europe policy, it is easy for anyone to travel to Spain and take a dog out of a perrera to home in another country. There are no checks at the border, and the animals, dogs especially, are adopted in all innocence by someone who then finds themself with a sick animal. It is instances such as this which caused Belgium, two years ago, to threaten to accept imported dogs,

    At the end of June this year, 20 dogs and cats died whilst being transported from southern Spain to Germany. Pro-Galgo have the story.

  • La Gran Familia, Seville – dogs needing help, petition to sign

    This is an appeal from Gran Familia in Seville.

    ‘We have come to the limits of our physical capabilities for the summer. We know that
    currently there are many urgent cases that we that we are unable to help because we have a multitude of expensse built up – vet fees, treatments, and we have to pay for kennels for the dogs as we have no shelter.

    We have four residence with dogs in kennels which cost us 720 euros per month. Below are the dogs in them. This is a cry for help for them and for us, we need to feed the and treat them on a daily basis and of course people want to charge – both the kennels and the vet – and the debt gets larger.

  • Seville galgos, another 33 arrive at Scooby Medina

    Seville galgos 33 arrive 14 02 2011 250 More of the 100 galgos rescued from Seville have arrived at the Scooby Medina refuge. Here’s what Cobie says.

    ‘Last week arrived the first 33 galgos from another 100 from Seville, the rest will come this week. I´ll send you pictures of them and also pictures from 2 galgos of this group who have burn marks on their thighs, This is something the gypsies do, like a kind of microchip but more painfull for the poor dogs. They do it with acid from batteries or with a hot iron like with horses or cows.

  • Seville – galgo puppy with gangrene! The abuse continues!

    Galgo rotten bottom 1 11 02 2011 250 We’ve already had puppy Marisol, rescued and nursed back to health by Baas Galgo, now we have this poor little puppy, starving, wounds to his eyes, and gangrene in his rear end! Here’s his story.

    ‘TIGRE, 5 month old galgo, suffering wounds and gangrene to his rear end and tail. Another story from Seville! Some boys in my village told me about him, very ill, and I could not believe his rear end. The tail ws completely rotten and infection had already reache the top of the tail to his spine, his anus and anal passage was inflamed and infected, wounds all over his body.
