  • Dennis and Sandy, Spanish galgos needing forever homes

Dennis & Gaynor 11 250 Dennis and Sandy are galgos rescued by Tina Solera. They both deserve forever homes. Can you help?

Dennis was abandoned in Murcia. He is aprox 3 yrs, castrated, vaccine rabia and enfermadad, blood tests for leishmania and erchlicia are all negative and he is microchipped. He is loving and affectionate.
Sandy 3 Silvia 13 11 2010 250 Sandy was found living on the streets of Pilar de Horadada and as soon as she entered the refuge she was very happy to have water and food, she was even skinnier than she is now. She had the early stages of filaria, which was caught with treatment and she is now fine.

She loves cuddles and wants constant attention but in a positive way. She doesn’t hassle you, she just pushes her nose into you. She wants to love someone and wants someone to own her 100%. She was always nice with the other dogs but unfortunately one dog bit her tail off, can you see? She walks lovely on a lead also. She really is a very good dog and will make someone a fantastic companion.

If you can offer one of these wonderful deserving galgos a home, please contact Tina

  • Galga Gaby, abandoned in Murcia, fostered in France, adopted in the UK

Gaby Diary Pix 009 190 Here’s something to make you chuckle, amidst so many horror stories. I am fostering a galga rescued by Tina Solera of Los Infiernos Refuge in Murcia (by the way, click on the ‘hound’ logo on the right to donate desperately needed dog food to her) who is en route to her forever home in the UK. The galga is a terrible thief! What a surprise! But as she is larger than my Carmela and Sahara, she can reach more things.

  • Saved from death in Spain – galgas rehomed by GRIN in America

Sofie pix 20 09 2010 250 Telma Shaw and Wally Lacey of GRIN in the US recently travelled to Spain to visit volunteers with galgo and podenco rescue associations and refuges, and to take back with them four dogs which had been offered forever homes in the US. Here’s what Telma says.

‘ We are back!! An amazing trip meeting tons of people and visiting
shelters, boarding facilities, a huge new project/kennel for the galgos near
Sevilla (more news on that) and we brought back three galgos…..the sad news is that we had to leave Angie at Madrid airport because on the way from Valencia to Madrid, Silvie the other galga started barking up a storm and got Angie all agitated to the point of panic, biting the crate, bleeding, temp increased, panting terrible, heart palpatations etc etc..we had to wet her down and let her sit with us and it took her an hour to calm down..we could not in good conscience continue the trip to the US.

  • Galga Phoebe, saved from drowning, looking for foster or forever home

Phoebe 1 Tina 02 2010 250 Galgos are still being abandoned, even though it is now the Spanish hunting season. This bitch was rescued by an English couple, exhausted and in danger of drowning in a canal. She was literally on her last breath when they dragged her out. They think she was in the canal because farmers were shooting at her the day before. She was exhausted. Tina says, ‘The couple still have her in their home but need a new place for her. They wont take her in the refuge because she is out of the border and to be honest after all she has been through its better she doesnt come in anyway..’. She is about 1 year old, her body already scarred, as you can see in the photo.

If you can help with foster or forever home, please contact Tina, who will also be very grateful for donations towards her microchip, vaccinations, castration.

  • Cordoba pregnant galga, saved, with her six puppies – forever homes needed

Do you remember the story of the very pregnant galga, loose on the streets of Cordoba, rescuers vainly trying to catch her before she got injured. Well, we’ve got good news.

Look at the link below in facebook which was sent to me by a very good friend, Ainara. I am sorry it is in Spanish…but you can see the photos of where she had her puppies…Thanks to the fact she hid, Arca de Noe of Cordoba could rescue them. Well done for all the volunteers who participated for so long in trying to rescue her!

  • Galgo Randy – Pro-Galgo needs him to find his forever home

Randy 1 Pro Galgo 10 2010 250 I’ve had a plea from Mo Swatek of Pro Galgo, as the association is desperately searching for a home for this stunning galgo recently rescued. If anyone can adopt him, please get in touch with her urgently. Here’s his story.

RANDY is about 4 years old and was found near a gasstation in the city
of Tarragona, (Catalonya) where no galgo hunting is practiced.
Due to the arrival of loads of travellers in the area, since july we
have rescued in and around Tarragona already 6 galgos, one is still
waiting in the local perrera to come to us but we have 21 dogs here and
it’s impossible to have him until some get adopted.
