  • Fiesta des Galgos 2010, American style! Galgos galore rehomed from Spain

In support of Charl del Rio’s annual Fiesta des Galgos, held at the beginning of December, I organised my Fete des Galgos in France on 12th September (the weather’s better than in December!) and GRIN in America organised their Fiesta des Galgos picnic on 19th September. You can already see the pix of my Fun Dog Show for the event, and here’s a few pix of the American event. Check out Mr & Mrs Spain – it could only happen in America, bless them! As a result of this event, GRIN were able to send donations to help Silvia in Valencia pay for the veterinary treatment for the galgos and podencos in her care.

  • Have you rehomed a galgo or podenco you saw on Galgo News?

If so, I’m collecting stories of galgos and podencos which Galgo News readers have adopted through seeing appeals on the website, or via associations which they read about on Galgo News.

It would be marvellous if you could write between 750-1,000 words about what you know of the dog’s background, how you found out about the dog, how the dog made the journey to you, and their character now they are with you.

Don’t worry if it goes more than that, I can always precis. And thank you a million times for those of you who have taken into your home one of the innocents of the Spanish hunters. Email me on band@bbrennan.eu before the end of September 2010

In my book I explain that there is a ‘traffic’ in stealing companion galgos. The thieves know how distraught an owner will be, and may be prepared to go to any lengths to get the dog back. If you haven’t already ordered a copy of my book, do so now and learn more.
