Pesky pup Polar is definitely making his mark in our home – in more ways than one! Here he is practising the Polar Perch – left cheek resting on a nearby chair! The dogs aren’t allowed on the chairs in our living rooms – they have their own chairs in the adjoining barn – so this is Polar’s statement of ‘I’m not actually sitting on the chair!’
He is into everything, including things he shouldn’t be into! His worst misdeed happened when we were out with friends for the evening.
This poor galgo on a 5m chain is one of 50 galgos and podencos discovered last week in Valencia. Galgos 112 are working with the Spanish police to save them. They have issued a denuncia against the owner. You can read the story on this link

Now that the farmers have cut our meadows for hay, Polar’s enjoying his morning walks with his best buddy Bracken and old boy Floyd – and David, who is counting down to his sponsored parachute jump on 23rd July to raise funds for Pepis Dog Refuge. Polar is a small white galgo puppy, born in February 2013, who was abandoned outside Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, Seville, in early April. He has a deformed back leg which, xray results show, is due to being broken when very young and then left to heal itself. Unless he has ongoing operations on his leg, it will not grow as he grows, which might lead to amputation. I decided to adopt him, as my French vet is marvellous at putting injured/deformed legs back together. The operations will be expensive and I am hoping people will help me with the cost of these, by coming up with some fundraising ideas.
Polar has had his bath today, apparently water went everywhere! On Thursday he leaves Pepis and his friends and begins his journey to France, arriving Friday afternoon.
