We took my last foster boy Bracken to his forever home in the Uk at the beginning of October. Here’s a video of his story. I’m pleased to say he has settled in well with his 3 canine companions, one of which is a 3-legged greyhound. Have a happy life, Bracken.

Catching a galga and puppies – volunteers face this all the time
This is the story in pictures of the capture of galgo Zoe and her pups, out in the wilds of Murcia. It took a week to catch her, adn then only by using a tranquiliser dart. Thanks to the incredible team of Tina and Gill of Galgos del Sol and to Antonio with his dart gun.
And you can also read about Leanne; they’ve been trying for 18 months to catch her!
It’s another example of what so many of the rescue associations and volunteers cope with, the strain of what they live with, and how long it can take to catch a frightened galga. If you would like to donate towards the vet fees for microchips, vaccinations, blood tests etc. please click on the link.

Here we are again – galgos still in killing stations from last year’s hunting – now they’re loose again on Spain’s roads……
It’s been a never-ending struggle for all the rescue associations in Spain, coping with thousands of galgos and podencos, as well as the thousands of other abandoned and maltreated dogs of Spain. And now, before last season’s detritus has been coped with, the bloody hunters are already abandoning this year’s rejects. Loose on the roads of Andalucia, Murcia….how can the bastards deny what we all know – the majority of them don’t give a bloody damn about the dogs they don’t want to keep.
Be strong, Spanish volunteers, we are all with you as much as we can be.

xbred Galgos, xbred Podencos, the result of abandoned bitches in season
Do you remember this photo? An abandoned galga, surviving life with puppies beneath a Cordoba motorway. She and two puppies were rescued; the bitch has been adopted, but Taz and Wolf, her babies, are still looking for forever homes. The problem of xbred dogs of any race is that not so many people want to adopt one. So realistically, they can suffer more than pedigrees who might eventually get adopted.
Charl del Rio of 112carlotgalgos discusses the problem, and re-introduces Gandalf, Henrietta, Taz and Wolf. Contact her if you can offer one of them forever in your home.

Spanish hunters – another way to kill a galgo!
The ever resourceful galgueros are always coming up with ideas of how to maltreat their loyal and long-suffering galgos L’Europe des Levriers reports on two cases which will make you weep for the pain these poor galgos suffered.
A miracle – recently two galgas managed to find their way to a shelter while they were dying. No doubt attracted by the smell of the food for the dogs, they walked a long way, under extreme suffering, relying on their survival instincts.
