This young galga, about 6-8 months old, was picked up at a petrol station at Montoro (Cordoba) on the Madrid/Seville motorway! She was looking for food, hanging around the restaurant, whose staff confirmed it had been hanging around for a couple of weeks. She was very thin and, since being rescued, has spent a day and a half eating and sleeping! She’s in a foster home in Malaga but can’t stay there as the parents of the fosterer have said they will not have a dog in the apartment. So it’s urgent to find her a foster home and a forever family. She’s friendly and gaining in confidence. Please contact the fosterer Jesus. This lucky boy is Divino, now safe with Scooby. Cobie says ‘DIVINO: Another galgo abandoned, hit by a car and then taken to the Valladolid provincial perrera where they wanted him to go and play on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Thanks to Scooby, who took him this morning out of that perrera, this stunning boy is 2 years old and not fearful. Has many years to play on the good side of that bridge for many, many years!! Badajoz perrera – to be murdered on 15th November! Galgueros – you have their blood on your hands!
The perreras are overflowing with galgos – and every other breed of dog – and here are some in Badajoz perrera, due to be killed on 15 November. Galgo pups dumped in a skip – urgently need experienced foster mom.
We’ve read about the heartless Portuguese hunters taking newborn galgo babies away from their mothers and killing them, so the mothers can be sent hunting/racing again. These galgo babies are only a week old and were found in a skip in Villaverde del Rio, Seville!
Here’s the appeal. ‘These small left them abandoned in a container, told us, and when we arrived were so small!! do how can do this? It must be inhuman and have no heart…
We have nowhere to have them since they need to eat every hour and the people who we want to help are working and can not attend properly. We collected them last Friday, (2/11/2012) the weekend they were with a companion, on Monday with a paid host, but I can’t afford 10 euros/day it cost and already on Tuesday returned to collect them.

Update on Miel/Honey – galga left for dead in a ditch
Update 7 11 2012
Today Gloria visited Honey, she is continuing to make progress, slowly but surely. The wounds are healing, about 80% mobility is now recovered, but she needs to build up enough muscle mass to cover her bones. But she continues to move forward – she will get there. Bravo ‘Honey’ and curse the bastard that did this to you.

Portuguese galgos – update
Update on the Portuguese galgos. One hunter has been busy killing puppies before Teresa could save them. But here’s the news about the first galga Estrela. Ines reports. ‘regarding that horrible man getting rid of all pups but 2 :(. We are not exactly sure what happened, but apparently he killed them, but won’t give us any more details… we just can wait for Estrela to leave this place.
Estrela is only mentally slighty better from the abuse she was given. She is on special high energy feed, plus a mix of raw green beef tripe and liver, and Anima-Strath supplements. She has also been wormed twice. Her owner has finally allowed us to take her to the vet this week, so she can get tests done to see why isn’t she putting more weight.

Galgos 112 Kina and Prodeanse Maika – help the galgos, beat the galgueros
Two sickening stories of maltreatment to galgos. Kina needs your support, was picked up by association ADAM, Animal Protection Association of Marchena, who say ‘Kina had been shot in the shoulder, has multiple injuries and after diagnosis has broken femur, humerus and hip – suspected dragged behind a car ‘training’ galgos. The galgo is a beautiful tiger brindle, only a year old’. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, ADAM asked Galgos 112 to take over his care and rehabilitation. Galga baby Jessica – hoping for a forever home for Christmas
Catching up on news about galgos and podencos, after being on holiday for a week with my son and family. Starting off with this delightful little lady, Jessie. She’s a galgo puppy in the safe hands of 112carlotagalgos in Malaga, waiting for her forever family. Read her story here. (This pic was when she was rescued, she’s grown some more now)
It’s a hard life for the galgos, as they continue to be dumped in the perreras for killing…so many details coming in that I can’t keep up with them, but luckily many people are publicising them on Save the Galgo on Facebook. And the news gets worse, as a couple of leading lights in galgo rescue in Spain have been forced to close their doors…it doesn’t bear thinking about what will happen to the galgos in their areas now.

Seville – El Refugio Escuela always helping the dogs
Sofia El Refugio Escuela, Seville, was one of the shelters I visited recently in my trip to Spain September 2012. Here’s a video of a galgo they rescued, a survivor of hanging by a galguero, back in 2008. Even then the hunters were claiming they didn’t hang their dogs, and they continue to deny it – yet in 2011/2012 we have published footage and photos to prove THEY LIE, THEY STILL HANG DOGS!
