Zoe 250 1 10 2011This is the story in pictures of the capture of galgo Zoe and her pups, out in the wilds of Murcia. It took a week to catch her, adn then only by using a tranquiliser dart. Thanks to the incredible team of Tina and Gill of Galgos del Sol and to Antonio with his dart gun.

And you can also read about Leanne; they’ve been trying for 18 months to catch her!

It’s another example of what so many of the rescue associations and volunteers cope with, the strain of what they live with, and how long it can take to catch a frightened galga. This is the story of the gypsy camp of Las Cuadras in Seville, as told by their President, Beatrice Monnet, on their website. At the end of this report, you can see a video of the Fundacion Benjamin Menhert on one of their rescues – 600 dogs taken out of the camp in one year!

‘Since its inception in 2006, L’Europe des Levriers has repeatedly denounced the terrible camp galgueros Las Cuadras in Seville. Cristina, our Vice President, regularly rescues galgos and podencos from this hell. We go to our kennels in Madrid every 3 or 4 months to bring these rescued dogs to France for adoption.
