This link is to a Spanish hunting federation. Whilst I curse every breath these men and women take, if you watch the video, you will see what hunting with galgos is all about. Not only does a hare have to run for its life, but the bloody hunters riding horses….knacker the horses’ feet and legs on the hard ground – the horses will feel so much pain after the gallop and they are probably lame for weeks, if not permanently. More horse meat for the Italian market? (Apologies to my Italian readers, but where else will the knackered horses go?) Hey, and you horse riders like me, what sort of crap riding seat has this woman hunter?!! Seat too far back on the saddle, so pressure on the horse’s kidneys, legs too short for a gallop, toes pointing forward, not sitting balanced in the centre of the saddle……grrrrrr – crap rider.

Looking for accommodation in Spain?
As I said once before, sometimes my headings can seem somewhat contrary to what I could put, but I’m after the search engines picking up the posts and hopefully educating people who might be thinking of holidaying in Spain that there is a dark side to many parts.

Transport from Spain to Germany – dogs and cats die in the heat!
With the open borders in Europe policy, it is easy for anyone to travel to Spain and take a dog out of a perrera to home in another country. There are no checks at the border, and the animals, dogs especially, are adopted in all innocence by someone who then finds themself with a sick animal. It is instances such as this which caused Belgium, two years ago, to threaten to accept imported dogs,
At the end of June this year, 20 dogs and cats died whilst being transported from southern Spain to Germany. Pro-Galgo have the story.

Letter-writing campaign – join in – Spanish government, embassies….
Please copy and send this letter to the Spanish government, provincial governments and Spanish embassies around the world. You will find the addresses in the links at the end of the letter. I realise you are all busy people, but it is important that we keep up the pressure on Spain to do something about the mass abandonment of hunting dogs every year.
I realise also that postage is expensive if you are sending a dozen letters but, again, it’s not a lot of money if we can help make a difference, and help the noble volunteers in Spain and the Spanish islands every year all year with the mass abandonment of dogs.
Would associations also please link in and ask their members and supporters to join in. We need letters to go out in their hundreds – thousands would be even better!

This is an appeal from Gran Familia in Seville.
‘We have come to the limits of our physical capabilities for the summer. We know that
currently there are many urgent cases that we that we are unable to help because we have a multitude of expensse built up – vet fees, treatments, and we have to pay for kennels for the dogs as we have no shelter. We have four residence with dogs in kennels which cost us 720 euros per month. Below are the dogs in them. This is a cry for help for them and for us, we need to feed the and treat them on a daily basis and of course people want to charge – both the kennels and the vet – and the debt gets larger.
