  • Canicross in Murcia – Tina and galgo Guapo over the finishing line!

Start line! 250 Tina’s done it – she’s run her first Canicross today. Here’s what she says.

‘We have done the canicross. We had a great day although was almost a non starter for us when the race organisers thought it was a good idea to let off a few cannons……. yep, clever stuff as the dogs went crazy and Guapo pulled me over on a bank he was so scared and then spent 1/2hr shivering. Well we got to the start line and once we were off, he really enjoyed it. We came 12th overall but not sure out of how many, I will wait for results! Thanks for all the sponsors!

  • Galga Phoebe, saved from drowning, looking for foster or forever home

Phoebe 1 Tina 02 2010 250 Galgos are still being abandoned, even though it is now the Spanish hunting season. This bitch was rescued by an English couple, exhausted and in danger of drowning in a canal. She was literally on her last breath when they dragged her out. They think she was in the canal because farmers were shooting at her the day before. She was exhausted. Tina says, ‘The couple still have her in their home but need a new place for her. They wont take her in the refuge because she is out of the border and to be honest after all she has been through its better she doesnt come in anyway..’. She is about 1 year old, her body already scarred, as you can see in the photo.

If you can help with foster or forever home, please contact Tina, who will also be very grateful for donations towards her microchip, vaccinations, castration.

Gandalf1 Tina 10 2010 210 The volunteers involved in galgo and podenco rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming work with dedication and commitment towards the ultimate solution for these maltreated and abused dogs. But sometimes circumstances change, which means the dog has to move on. Everyone hopes he/she will not be affected by this, and it is amazing how resilient the dogs are.

Here is one boy who, through no fault of his own, now has to leave his foster home and return to Los Infiernos refuge, home to over 200 dogs. Tina Solera is desperately seeking another foster or forever home for him, so he doesn’t have to cope with the refuge again. If you can help, please get in touch with Tina.
