Look carefully, you might see a puppy in there. And it’s not only the animals for whom life is hard. It is also hard for animal rescuers. This is a tale from one, near Valencia. She’s been trying to rescue a galga and her puppies. This is the story.
‘Today was a horrible day. Again I saw the mother walking through the village and crossing or standing in the middle of the road, cars rushing by, these people do not even reduce their speed to avoid the dog.
This is the message received.
‘This case is very urgent and we need help for someone to take this abandoned galga, who has 8 puppies about 1 month old, hidden in a field by an industrial estate. Much danger as they are living near gitanos who will try and take them. They need help urgently to take them to safety, help of any kind (where you can rescue and protect them and find foster etc after. Please, please is very urgent. We need experienced people in such cases and especially a safe place to take them.
I pray that someone heeds this call for help because the fate of this mother and her babies is very black if they are not rescued soon.

This is Linda, a little podenca abandoned on the streets of Seville after a life of exploitation and maltreatment. Read her story on Podenco Post. Can anyone help?
This beautiful galga was found abandoned in Huelva. She is only 6-7 months old. She is currently in the flat with the girl who rescued her, but she can’t keep her any longer. She needs a foster or adopting home. She is well behaved, gets on well with other dogs and takes no notice of the pet birds in a cage! Please contact urgently ajedrez_diaz@yahoo.es or valverdeanimal@valverdeanimal.es
She is a stunner, please someone take her.
More galgos in the perrera as Seville – can anyone take them? There are several more besides these 3.
Look at this fantastic boy. He is a galgo, 6 months old, has been in a Toledo refuge since December. Because he is a boy no one has asked for him….if he is not taken out soon, he will be stolen by the gitanos and then…..well, we all know the life in store for him.
Tobruk is small, young and very gentle, he’s been in the Toledo refuge since December…no one seems to want him. Please…..please someone outside of Spain take this young galgo to rehome, he needs a chance……… Contact Nuria, , or Joanna
Come on, let’s get this young boy, with no mental or physical hangups, out of there….perfect galgo for rehoming.
Time to run another letter-writing campaign to the Spanish national and regional governments. Thank you to Joan Barrett for this one. Please copy and paste and send to everyone on the list. Click on this link for the names and addresses.
On the appeal for help for galgos in Hellin Perrera, there is now a comment that it is suspected that galgos are being bought from there and transported to Italy for breeding. I have asked the commentator to give me more information. Does anyone else know of galgos being bought straight out of perreras and taken elsewhere in Europe for breeding?
I am aware that trafficking does go on, but don’t have any more information.
