We had a fantastic Fete des Galgos in France yesterday, pix will be posted later. Lisa had an AMAZING Freedom Jump for Galgos, including a bit of skydiving to begin with, without a parachute. What a Fantastic girl! Here’s the link to the slide show, and if you haven’t already sent some sponsor money to 112carlotagalgos associacion, Paypal Charl now! GOOD ON YOU LISA!

Pregnant podenca on a Spanish street – in danger of the hunters
Yet another little lady, abandoned on the streets to survive, with a bellyful of pups! The refuges are full to overflowing, but it’s important to get this podenca off the streets before she has her babies. Hunting is about to start, and it’s a dangerous time for them all to be out and insecure.
The people who sent the plea for help for her cannot take her in as they already have several cases in the same position but they would finance her journey to another place if a foster home came up

Galgo Russo, victim of hit & run – please donate to vet fees for him
Regular readers will know Tina Solera is another volunteer working tirelessly for the abandoned dogs of Murcia, in Los Infiernos refuge. She has been picking up abandoned galgos regularly all summer, many of them now rehomed, but still there are a couple of galgos and a couple of podencos needing forever homes.
The latest incumbent is Russo. Here’s what Tina says about him.

Galga Sofie from Badajoz – latest news – on the road to recovery
Fantastic news from GRIN – Sofie, the brindle galga abandoned on the streets of Badajoz, whose lower jaw was cruelly broken, had the steel rods holding her jaw together removed on 3rd September. Read the whole story, see the latest photo, here.
At the end of September, Telma Shaw and Wally Lacy of GRIN fly to Spain and Sofie and Angie – the remaining dog from the Jaen 4 to be rehomed – will fly back to the US to begin their new lives.
Wonderful news, and I add my thanks to those of GRIN.

Sponsor Lisa’s Parachute Jump for associacion 112carlotagalgos
Regular readers will know that, for the past 3 years at the beginning of December, Charl has organised a Fiesta des Galgos in Malaga, where she lives. She’s just formed her own association 112carlotagalgos and from 12th -19th September, Fiesta des Galgos goes International!
It commences with Lisa’s 5,000ft parachute jump on 12th September, which is the same day as my own Fete des Galgos at my home in France. My event is a Fun Dog Show, plus Craft Fair, Have A Go Archery and display of classic and interesting cars and bikes. The following weekend on 19th September, GRIN in the US are holding a BIG galgo picnic.

Podenca Mary, Galga Dana, 112carlotagalgos-desperately needing help
You will remember I posted about the rescue by Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos (newly formed association) of Mary, the podenca puppy abandoned at a petrol filling station. Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous? And also Dana, a galga in kennels who is very stressed by her situation.
Charl’s association 112carlotagalgos, is just born, and so doesn’t have any backup funds -any which have been donated so far have gone out immediately to pay for vet fees and kennel costs for these two deserving dogs.

Saving galgos, saving humans, adopt a needy dog
Sent to me today, author unknown. I have to share it with you. I wept a tear.
I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY
Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.
