Zaragoza University, Ohio University, Scooby Medina – working together

Recently Scooby Medina was visited by a dozen vets and veterinary students to help with galgos rescued from perreras throughout Spain, many of the dogs in poor condition and sick. ^ vets and 6 students helped Eric, the refuge vet, together with Dr Guillermo Couto of Ohio University, whose visit was financed by Petcare Affinity Group. They all stayed for a week, working also with Dr Pablo Gomez of Zaragoza University and some of his students.

You can see photos of the visit here. It’s an illustration that it is not just about rescuing dogs, but also about the enormous amount of aftercare involved in rehabilitating the dogs and preparing them for adoption.

These photos are quite an eye-opener to all the background work that goes into saving these dogs. It must have been quite an experience for these vets and students, and hopefully they will return home and spread the word about what goes on in Spain so that even more people join this fight against such evil.

    Hi
Dr Couto is a world renowned expert on the health of galgos; he often travels to Spain with some of his students to do this type of work.
