Gisela the brave – has passed away across the rainbow bridge.

Just received from Gail, of Noah’s Arc refuge.

‘I am afraid the blood test showed that the Pancreas was closing down and unable to absorb any nutrients. The diarrhoea has returned. Last evening she had a good day but went downhill again during the night. She also had no strength in her back legs and that was also getting worse.

I am so sorry but she crossed over this morning peacefully. She will be able to run and play now and love.’

Further message from Andrew.

“It is with much regret and tremendous sadness that at 10.19 AM today the 1st of September 2009 Gisela finally passed over the bridge, after a 19 day battle and despite her making every effort to fight for her own life. Her Pancreas after initially appearing to make a small recovery once again deteriorated to a point where Gisela was no more retaining any nutrients.

Our decision to let her rest was made easier by Maria confirming that although we could continue to fight with her, she had no more strength left to fight with and we agreed that it was best for her to allow her to go quietly with the arms of those who care so much for her gently around her.

At this time Gail and I have found comfort from all your messages of hope and good will and are more determined than ever that Gisela fight will not be in vain. We will continue our work with Noahs arc and when another Gisela arrives tomorrow we will carry on fighting for her also.

We found this pets prayer to be a source of great comfort for us and we hope that when you lose a loved one you may also find these words of great comfort.
Andrew”

Such a very brave galga, and at least in the last couple of weeks of her life, she knew caring voices, caring hands, comfy places to sleep – she knew love.

God’s speed, Gisela.
