The following email arrived in my Inbox this morning. Please read and take the action requested. The suffering of this poor dog does not bear thinking about.
On Oct.2nd a dog that was supposedly a family member was cruelly killed in Guimar on one of Canary Islands Tenerife by a 16 years old boy by being stoned and beaten so long until the dog died.
The poor dog was a Podenco ( Spanish hunting dog ), people thought he was stray, he was so malnourished and looking absolutely neglected, but it was later found out that he was a family member( had a microchip ) and killed allegedly by the owner itself( the boy).
It was a cruel death – blood all over the body, eyes popped out, skull broken and crushed, the whole body wounded – the boy with bloody hands was just laughing and said the dog just killed a rabbit.
This case has been reported, police got involved and charges pressed against the juvenile already, but still many actions need to be taken, we cannot accept such cruelties, we should never visit countries where animal welfare issues are rather ignored by the authorities than being taken into consideration.

Estimados Sres.:
Atentamente

Thank you for sending the letter. Please get
as many people as possible to do so. The boy who did this needs arresting
and charging with animal cruelty, and severe punishment. Otherwise it is
likely he will repeat it.

Yes, it is horrendous, isn’t it. I don’t
usually post such pictures, I don’t want people to feel afraid of reading my
stories because of horrific pictures, but I just felt I had to show these, to
persuade people to send the letter.
Thank you for reading Galgo News, tell everyone
about it, and get everyone sending the letter.

Bonjour
Agree with you, what is wrong with society too that
it produces children who do this? And so many Spanish children grow up
thinking that hanging dogs from trees, burning them alive – killing them as this
boy did – is acceptable behaviour. How do we change this?
Thanks for reading Galgo News, please tell all your
friends to join the campaigns – and thanks for the good work Care2 does running
the petitions.

Oh my God. They should learn this children what is good for animals and should not learn them that hunting with galgos and podencos in Spain is tradicional sport …And even small children can go and learn the theoretical and practical side of the hunting …Is this right way for Spain? I think not …
I will not visit Spain on my hollidays NEVER …Because their guverment just do nothing to save this beautiful creauters and learn people how to treat them.

I agree, the Spanish children have to be taught to
respect animals, especially galgos and podencos – bulls and horses comes on the
list too – and be sure the only reason go to Spain is to help bring galgos
out to new homes in France. It is the regional governments we have to
petition to change the law to protect galgos, and the problem is that many of
the members of the regional government are galguerros.
All suggestion as to how we tackle this problem
will be carefully considered.
Thanks for reading about the poor podenco, please
send the email letter and ask all your friends to do the same.

Bonjour
I had the same response from one of the TV
stations. So, yes, I think they have blocked messages re the podenco, so
hopefully the onslaught of protests has been taken note. I really must try
and sort out some postal addresses too, trouble is that, with being on holiday
for 10 days, I have a lot of articles to write which earn me money!! But I
promise I really will try! I have asked my informant to keep me posted on
any developments with regard to the police and this vile boy.
Thanks for reading, taking action and
posting.
