Report just in from a volunteer.
‘In one of the corners far away from habitation, in the Province of Badajoz, Extramadura, in the heart of the Comarca de La Serena, this is the consequence of nearing the end of the hunting season.
It’s in one of the regions with the biggest ‘tradition’ of hunts, far away from the rescue associations of Badajoz, far from the associations and refuges in Castilla La Mancha, and far from everywhere else – here dogs are abandoned, in the total silence, to their tragic end.
These images were taken 21st January. It’s not hard to find this scene, you will see more and worse.
I was only able to rescue one galgo, approximately 1 year old. I was left with the feeling I could have taken more, had I taken more food with me, or had more time there. There was also a mastin who looks young, he grabbed the meat I took, he was so starved he would not let me near him.
Remember, the hunt season has not yet finished and the worst is yet to come. This place is far away from me,but if it is possible, I will return in the next few days with more food and hope to catch another.
Whatever, I will do all I can so they are not forgotten……………..’

This is so depressing…and the government won’t lift a finger to change things. Welcome to spain
Bonjour
Thanks for reading and commenting. Yes, it is so depressing, and just so unfair on both the dogs and the volunteers who try to cope with it. They need all the support we can give them to get them through yet another massacre.
Keep reading and spreading the word.
