Beryl – in answer to your question – this petition is being delivered to President Zapatero, the information is in the “Target” line of the petition. It now has over 6,000 signatures 🙂 but is being left open until April 10 to collect as many signatures as possible.
That’s a good question, though – there are so many petitions floating around without proper targets, often with something vague like “animal lovers everywhere” in the target line, which simply end up gathering dust and going nowhere.
But the good petitions have a specific target, and clear information about the intention and aim of the petition.
Please see our Firebull petition –
    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/firebull—stop-the-burning-of-live-bulls
it has a clear target, to which it has already been delivered, but we are leaving it open until May, when it will be delivered again by a British MEP – all this information is clearly shown on the petition.
You do a wonderful job here – many thanks to you!

    Bonjour
Thank you for this excellent explanation. I
know that the GIN petition will go where it will be read, presumably you will
have some pix taken of when you hand it over. If there is a story about
when you do it, and pix, please let me know so I can post on GN for
    everyone.
Thanks for your kind words too. One thing I
know for sure, Galgo News has publicised the plight of the galgos world wide
since I started it 2 1/2 years ago, and I feel very humble at times that it has
done such a lot in this field, and also help a lot of refuges and associations
who dont have either the staff or the time to spend writing up much
    publicity.
Look forward to hearing what the final figure is
for the petition, and about its presentation.

Beryl – I forgot to add – the genuine petition creators contact signers to inform them of the outcome.
I apologise if I was confusing – I don’t have anything to do with the greyhound petition – I was only posting what I know of petitions in general, and from our Firebull petition.
Photos of our first petition handover, by the wonderful activist group PACMA, can be seen here –

    Bonjour
Thank you for expanding on your comment, I presumed
you were involved with the GIN petition.
Do you know, the only contacts I have had about
petitions to which I have added my name – and there are many – are the Downing
Street (UK Government) ones, and a couple of the French associations for whom I
have posted notice of their petitions to sign. Never heard from anyone
else. Which is frustrating considering I believe that, through publicising
the petitions on Galgo News, there are many more signatories added to the list
of the petition creator. I feel strongly that everyone needs to know what
    happens to the petitions.
Thanks for commenting, and reading Galgo
    News.

I agree, Beryl, but I’m surprised you have received so few. I often receive notifications from petitions on Care2, the most recent being only a day or so ago-

    Bonjour
Yes, I receive automated responses to thank me for
signingpetitions. But I cant recall ever having received one which
came to me after the petition was closed. I will look out in future, but I
cant imagine that I would not have read any which told mewhen and where
    the petition was being delivered.
Thanks for the information, and for
    commenting.
