Beach holidays in Spain – free accommodation – it’s a hard life for some!

Starving injured galgo 1 0209 250 Abandoned galgos everywhere – when is Spain going to act to stop this unnecessary cruelty? Here’s the latest from Tina.

Last night I saw another two abandoned galgos in Torre Pacheco roaming the streets, heads down, they were totally depressed and spirit broken and of course both extremely underweight. I couldnt get close to either of them. Also on Calblanque beach there is a galgo all alone, wandering around with a rope around its neck. I wasn’t able to pick him up as I had my two kids with me and with the children it was impossible.

I also know there are at least two galgos wandering in Dolores, I’ve been told they look at death’s door. I’m afraid to say this is far from over, in fact I think it’s getting worse. The problem with the galgos is they are hard to catch, especially if there is no collar. It can take weeks to build their trust. Poor souls they have been so badly treated that they don’t trust anyone’.

Tina, I don’t know how all you brave volunteers live with this sickening spectacle every year. I think it is time we targeted the Spanish hunting federation, as they are the ones in the best position to take the quickest action to stop the abandonment of the galgos, and stop the indiscriminate breeding, and make the hunters microchip and register ownership of each dog on a database. I’ll start composing a letter.
