You will remember the story of Sofie, the brindle galga abandoned to life on the streets of Badajoz. She disappeared for a couple of days and, on her return, her lower jaw had been shattered – as though she had been kicked really hard in the mouth. She was able to be caught and through the care of the vet, with her lower jaw held together by metal rods, she is now able to eat on her own, and this latest video shows her out for a walk along the street.
The cost of veterinary care has been huge. The fees for the first operation were paid for by a French galgo lover who desperately wished to adopt Sofie when she was ready for rehoming. Sadly, this cannot be, as Sofie is an extremely nervous galga and needs a quiet home, rather than one with lively children and small dogs. It will take months for her to recover from all this trauma.
GRIN have also contributed to the costs of veterinary care and one of their members has now been accepted to adopt Sofie so, in September, along with Angie – the last of the 3 rescued in January from the Jaen killing station – they will travel to the US with Telma Shaw, to begin their new lives away from a life of hell with Spanish hunters.
Thank you to everyone to has donated towards the cost of the vet fees for Sofie.

Wonderful news, I am so happy for her xxx
Anyone else having trouble viewing the video? Clicking on the link takes me to a screen http://www.galgorescue.org but this shows a message saying the domain name expired 27.6.10 and is pending renewal or deletion. Not sure if it’s a problem with my system or the link. Was it another YouTube listed video, perhaps we could pick it up directly from there?
Yes, I had trouble too. I hope Galgo Rescue reclaims their domain name soon.

Hi Folks
Will check the link I have posted, but I viewed the
video no problem. Maybe just try going to the main GRIN (Galgo Rescue
International Network) website and you should find it there.
Bit busy at the moment preparing to go off for a
drive down South of France to collect a galga from Spain which I am going to
foster whilst I ensure her pet passport is correct for entry to the
UK
Bit frustrating for people in Britain wanting to
adopt – the rabies vaccination is what needs to be correct – but Spain and
France dont have rabies……………

Hi
Geez, they are having problems. I linked into
the story, no problem this morning when I posted on Galgo News. Just tried
again, and they are nowhere.
I will email Telma Shaw immediately and ask what
the problem is.
Sorry, all I can tell you is that this amazing
galga was being walked on the lead by a member of the veterinary clinic.
Her lower jaw is still clamped in place by the metal rods and she is wearing a
plastic collar round her neck, which she obviously hates. She walks, but
reluctantly, as she is quite rightly frightened by any person walking by
her. Will they kick her in the mouth, just like the bastard who did this
to her on the streets of hellhole Badajoz.

Hi
Im just so sad that the weblink no longer seems to
be working. I have emailed Telma Shaw of GRIN to ask her what the problem
is. As soon as is sorted, I will post weblink again. It worked ok
when I tested it this morning.
