Beatriz Menchén is another dedicated fighter against the slaughter of dogs and cats in kennels in Spain and has worked helping animals for more than 15 years. She believes in protecting animals, not euthanasia, and has managed the animal shelter in Getafe, a large area of Madrid. The Council of Getafe has given shelter to an exterminator company that kills dogs. Many dogs have lost their lives in the hands of this company. Beatriz tried to stop these unnecessary deaths, but her words were not heeded, so she has now begun a hunger strike.

Escribo para protestar sobre la decisión de administrar la gestión del refugio de animales de Getafe, Madrid, a una sociedad que mata a los perros. Sé que empresas como esta no utilizan métodos humanitarios de euthanaise animales, que utilizan el método más barato whch causa un sufrimiento innecesario a los animales. Estas empresas también tienden a no dar a los perros de alimentos y agua – su actitud es ‘¿por qué alimentar a un perro que vamos a matar “.

Estoy a favor de Beatriz Menchen en su protesta por esta decisión por usted y su consejo. El mundo es muy consciente y muy enojado por la treatmnent de perros abandonados, gatos, caballos, toros, etc en España. La solución no es matar a los animales, sino para neutralizar a todos, dejar de crianza irresponsable e innecesario de los animales.

¿Puedo sugerir respetuosamente que usted y su consejo de revocar la decisión de asumir la gestión de Getafe de Beatriz Menchen, y centrarse en un programa de esterilización y castración todos los animales, especialmente perros y gatos, y también educar a los habitantes de su municipio con respecto a responsables la propiedad de los animales de compañía.

I write to protest regarding the decision to give the management of the animal shelter of Getafe, Madrid, to a company which kills dogs. I know that companies like this do not use humane methods to euthanaise animals, they use the cheapest method whch causes unnecessary suffering to the animals. These firms also tend not to give dogs food and water – their attitude is ‘why feed a dog we are going to kill’.

I support Beatriz Menchen in her protest about this decision by you and your council. The world is very aware and very angry about the treatmnent of abandoned dogs, cats, horses, bulls etc in Spain. The solution is not to kill the animals but to neuter them all, stop irresponsible and unnecessary breeding of animals.

May I respectfully suggest that you and your council revoke the decision to take the management of Getafe from Beatriz Menchen, and focus instead on a programme of neutering and castrating all animals, especially dogs and cats, and also educate the inhabitants of your municipality regarding responsible ownership of companion animals.
