Spanish hunters – another way to kill a galgo!

The ever resourceful galgueros are always coming up with ideas of how to maltreat their loyal and long-suffering galgos L’Europe des Levriers reports on two cases which will make you weep for the pain these poor galgos suffered.

A miracle – recently two galgas managed to find their way to a shelter while they were dying. No doubt attracted by the smell of the food for the dogs, they walked a long way, under extreme suffering, relying on their survival instincts.

This is the atrocious cruelty which the galguero inflicted upon them. He first burned their legs with acid so that they could no longer walk, then he tied them together to slowly die of thirst and hunger. Evidence that the man is capable of an incredible sadism when he knows that he will not be punished…

In a desperate effort, the two galgas managed to break the thin rope that imprisoned them. A volunteer has found them struggling in the field next to the sanctuary.

Kaena, the old one, is the galga in the the most worrying state. The legs were necrotic and full of worms and a lot of flesh had to be cut out to make them healthy. The poor galga will be in the clinic for weeks. Danea, the beige and the youngest, is being treated to regenerate tissues, but she still struggles to stand and walk.

Of course, the shelter volunteers will do everything so that these two galgas can recover, but veterinary costs are prohibitive. EDL will help the shelter. Here is the slideshow of the poor two galgas…

UPDATE

Danea did not survive! The youngest of the two galgas burned with acid died Tuesday of a heart attack last. Probably under the pressure of the pain, her heart stopped. We have no words to express the sadness and anger we feel.

But this is not everything. The continuous nightmare… a third galga appeared near the sanctuary of Palencia, exactly in the same state: legs burned with acid, broken cord around her neck, starving and dehydrated, puss-filled eyes. Yurena is a galguita of only 5 months old!

She is currently in a clinic with Kaena. The poor little pup had a spur (grass seed)in her eye that has been extracted.

It is not known if the three galgas were burned with acid or if their galguero poured them gasoline on the legs before setting fire to them… We are in contact with the shelter and we will try our utmost to help so that they can give the best care to these galgas and to raise them in France as soon as they can travel…
