This little baby is only 3 months old. She was wandering near some cars, some children started to attack her. Luckily she was heard screaming and crying and was rescued, and is now in a garage. An appeal is out for an association to take her. She’s been named Dana. She is affectionate and trusting, even after her bad treatment. She will be chipped, vaccinated, wormed, with an adoption contract and commitment to sterlize when she is old enough. Contact duendecillasoy@hotmail.com Associations only

I don’t get it! We read so much about children attacking dogs, throwing stones at them and otherwise torturing them. What’s wrong with them? I know that as a child, if I saw a dog wandering alone (which almost never happened here, I saw one once) my first idea was never “Oh goody, let’s thrown stones at it and hurt it!” I just wanted to get close to it to pet it. Which is what I did that one time. It was a big, beautiful German Shepherd. It turned out he belonged to new neighbours and had escaped. It always saddens me when I see cruelty at such a young age. It doesn’t bode well for the future dogs of those children…
It comes back to the parents and the schools. Children are products of their environment, as much as little Dana is. They need to be taught respect and compassion otherwise this cycle of mindless cruelty will continue. Organisations such as Actin, and individuals like Charlotte at carlotta galgos are working towards this. One must stand back and ask why. Why do the kids act the way they do? It is heartbreaking to see, and hard to understand how anyone could be cruel to a lovely little thing like Dana…but if a kid sees his father throwing stones at a dog then he will learn that this is the way to behave towards animals.
You’re right. I really do hope that schools step up to the plate on that subject. That way, even kids of people who mistreat animals will get the other side of the coin, they might understand that there are other ways of treating animals. Indeed, Charl is trying hard to get that point across but it is an uphill battle!

Poor little thing hope she is safe and finds rescue. Some blame parents, schools etc I understand that children can do as they see, but even as a very young child I knew right from wrong and would never have hurt another living creature – to watch an animal scream in fear is wrong and these children know it.
