Two badly injured galgos dumped in a perrera, and taken in by 112carlota galgos – Ebro, the more sick of the two – is on the road to recovery; both his broken front legs are now in pins and he is being nursed at the finca.
Jade – after a promising start, became seriously ill last week and the vet and Charl made the ultimate decision yesterday. RIP Jade.
As one door closes, another one opens for Carly, saved from being killed last week and arriving at the finca today.
Scooby Medina have taken in Gala, a black and white galga abandoned in Andalucia – both front legs so badly broken that the bones were sticking out.
The bastard hunter to did this to her abandoned her and left her, seriously in pain, unable to move, with only a long slow starving and dehydrating journey to death in front of her. She is now safe with Scooby, being put back together.
Galgos are being dumped in the perreras by the dozens each day now that the hunting season is drawing to a close. Many people are working tirelessly to get some of these hounds – mostly between 1-3 years old – out before being killed.
The latest news on Cuenca refuge – which was threatened to be changed to a perrera – is that Rescate are hoping to take over the running of it.
Adoptions are desperately needed for all these hounds.
(Apologies that I cannot post pictures, I am still stuck in snow in the UK and having to borrow a computer which can’t handle uploading my photos (because it is a work/library computer)

Jade’s story has been massive on Facebook – people all over the world have been posting. Now is the time for all these people to stand together against these atrocities and let Spain know it can no longer bury its head in the sand. Change won’t happen overnight – but we must keep the momentum going now so many people have been touched by Jades passing.
come on everyone stick together and fight for these beutiful hounds its got to stop there needs to be a demo arranged outside a spanish embassy inthe uk this torture cant go on we have got to let them know its not the way to go torturing these beutiful dogs in the way they do there was one done for the greyhounds been sent to china they decided not to send them thankfully
Hi jenny,
im up for that i will see if i can get enough people together to do a demo plus im am going to need some leaflets do you know someone i can get them from.
These stories leave me feeling so heartbroken for the galgos, and so helpless and this year there is nothing more I can do to help except try to spread the word. These poor, poor galgos – I spit on the brutes that did these unspeakable things to them. May they rot in hell!
contact annie grey action she did some brilliant posters when we all went to london outside the embassy i will contact her tonight get a bit of imfo from her re the posters and what best place to be in the uk i think she may do them for you but would like a donation for ink paper and postage or maybe she could send them via computer to you let me contact her first see what she can come up with maybe we could get something started if we can pull it off
I find it ABSOLUTELY GREAT that you in the UK try to make a difference and win again and again.
I honestly envy you…
Our local death factory here near Toronto, has not that much help and the effect of the pleas on them is not too big as for until now, either. Cats die to the thousands.
From this facility only some privileged groups are allowed to pull animals and imagine, when I tried to link in the petition that asks for the possibility for public adoptions from this pound (which would save many cat lives), the “great rescuer and big cat lover” did not allow my comment to appear on the cat rescue blog, where she daily states how she loves cats and how important rescue is for her.
It is just like the Little Spain Effect here, in the middle of Canada…
Look for yourself and please try to help.

I am not the maker of this petition I only signed it together with many others. Each signature is important as surprisingly many locals are stupid and ignorant here!
Thank you
Tunde
P.s.: I was told that before the current system was established, this pound was a totally decent place with super adoption rates. Then something happened, some new guidelines were established and the mass killings started. They have been continued since. I was told figures privately, by rescuers between 6 and 10,000 murdered cats/year.
you know tunde no matter where you turn in the world there is animal torture its heartbreaking i will go on the site and have a look
hi kim i have emailed annie i will just wait for reply from her now and get back to you
got reply she told me to contact grey compassion done that just waiting for reply

hi kim if you and anyone else would like to email the more people they see are interested it may get a result
oh forgot to mention i have just emailed gin aswell see if they would like to arrange a demo
Perhaps we could organise a demonstration and coincide it with an international petition to back up owrldwide feelings on this. I’v contact Avaaz this afternoon to ask for help/advice on launching a petition.
I started a petition on AVAAZ for the galgos back in June. It’s still ongoing as I hope to get it up to 20,000 signatures:

Hi Now that I am back home in France and on a proper computer rather than a tablet, I am trying to catch up with what is going on with this idea. I have it confirmed from Jen about this idea of a demo outside the Spanish Embassy. It needs to be on a separate post now, so I would be grateful if everyone who is so far interested in organising and joining in a demo to let me know. I think a team needs to be set up so that ideas can be co-ordinated and a list kept of all associations who have been approached to help, and who can supply what etc. Im happy to help as much as possible – so please can you all email me at band@bbrennan.eu and then I know where we are up to. Thanks to everyone for caring and for coming up with this suggestion. Beryl x
Petition signed and passed on to 2 people I know in Hamilton who have many friends on Facebook and a large circle of “real” friends. Hopefully, that will give this petition a push!

Will post another appeal for signatories tomorrow. Hopefully it will
make the 20,000. What will you do with it then?
hi Jen, if GIN can arrange a demo that would be a good idear but if they can,t i will phone some of friends and see if they would be interested in doing a demo im sure i can get some people together.

Hi, as I said in my mail to you, it needs more thought and organisation –
September would be better, then we can make sure all permissions are in place
and organise as many people as possible. I am happy to co-ordinate, if Jay
or Kim don’t have time.
I will send it to the Spanish government and I think also the Spanish Hunting Federation. I also want to put together a letter with photos of the horrors that galgos endure and have it translated properly into Spanish, then send to the Queen of Spain (got her postal adress through someone at PETA), and I also want to send the same letter to Spanish TV stations and Spanish newspapers.
Still working on getting all postal adresses for those. I’ve drafted a letter for National Geographic with photos as well. I’m thinking that an actual letter with photos sent through the mail might have a bigger impact than a simple email. I also want to send the same letter to National Geographic France (I will translate it into French of course!). So a few things on the go… but with work, taking care of the house and the family and four dogs, I need more hours in the day!!!
Hi – I’m happy to help in any way I can bearing mind we run our own business and East Riding Greyhounds!! Never organised anything like this before so open to ideas and advice and will do as much as I can to get it off the ground. I do have a team of greyhound volunteers that I could persuade to help out as well!!
Thanks Danielle – I’ve now signed and shared your link! Let’s hope we can stir up some momentum.
Ill email you about this direct – Kim has offered to co-ordinate, with input from others. Looking good!
september is great gives people ample time you are doing great danielle and i know beryl and jay will do what they can also
well done jay beryl and kim on getting this together and well done danielle for petition
