It’s been a nightmare few months for Jane and Alan at Pepis Refuge, Seville. Rain and more rain, mud and more mud, loss of Internet. Now at least they are connected to the rest of the world again. Below are a couple of photos of some of the galgos which were dumped or arrived at the refuge during this time. And this is the story of the little chap in this photo.
‘This is Polar,he was left at the refuge three weeks ago and has a deformed back leg.He saw the bone specialist on Tuesday and we were told that his leg was broken when he was a tiny baby and, as he has grown, the leg has become twisted above and below his knee and he will need to have several operations to correct the deformity. We were told that if the leg is not tended too soon,as he grows the leg will not. I will post the xray taken when I receive them.’
It’s hard enough for small refuges – they have 70 dogs! – to exist on donations, but when they get a big vet bill such as this will be, it’s even harder. If you can help pay towards the cost of the operations for Polar, please donate here.
Remember that all the dogs in Pepis Refuge are looking for forever homes.
Please also consider going to stay at Pepis for a holiday and helping with the care of the dogs at the same time. Details here
