Besides dogs, my other lifelong passion has been horses. This is a ‘living’ pony ride outside Decathlon, Valencia, Spain. This is what the ponies do all day, every day – can’t even move their heads!

Disgraceful, bloody scumbag idiots. Beryl, please let us know if there is a petition to sign. This needs to be stopped!
Simply…..heartbreaking…..is there just NO END to the amount of cruelty that *humans* will put animals through, just to line their filthy pockets ??
let me know if a petition is started up i will sign
These are still common in France and Belgium. Haven’t you seen them? There are petitions you can sign.

They aren’t all cruel – I had a friend who owned one and it was fine. They weren’t overworked or over-loaded, had plenty of rest and water, they only worked a few days a month in summer and hardly at all the rest of the year, they spent most of the time lounging about eating grass abd being petted by the owner’s eight children. I suppose the noise was a bit much, but it was only occasional and in village fairs and not deafening like they have now. They were quite lucky, really, as they were the sort of ponies that’d otherwise go for meat. He had twenty – six at a time in the manège.
Professional trainers and breeders have expensive horse-walkers and dog-walkers, which are no different in principle. It’s just HOW it’s done that can make it wrong.
I mean he had 20 and they worked 6 at a time, not that he had a huge manège of 26 ponies!
