Cost of shipping a small paperback book from the US to France

I’ve been quoted $23+ for someone to send me a small paperback book – less than 310gms – which is ludicrous when it costs me less than 4 euros to send one of my FH2H books to the US. I think someone is taking the p..s! Information please on the cheapest way for this book to be posted to me – I won it in an auction. In euro terms – that’s just short of 18 euros! He must be joking!

Beryl from my expierence most online sellers do indeed make extra money with postage price. If this book comes from commercial and not from a private person you may have to pay the custom on top of this, which is rather high. I had ordered from Grey2K USA some items I was informed by writting I should come to the custom office, had to open everything, the custom officer than decided that the labels and stickers where of no commercial value and I did not had to pay any extra money. As long as the parcel comes from a private person and marked “gift” you are excemted from this nuisance. Hope you will find out the correct price. When sending books here we have special rates. He might charge you also for packing service.

Thank you for the information, Katharina. This is a private individual so I will suggest he looks at sending the book as a gift, which it is theoretically as I won it in an auction. I dont make money from postage on my books, Im more concerned with getting the message about the galgos out there.
