Pepis Dog Refuge – ways to help care for 80 dogs!

It costs 600 euros/month to feed over 70 dogs at Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, Seville, about 20 of them galgos, many are podencos…and more being dumped on them every day!!! That’s before they start on vet fees, wormers, scalibor collars, flea & tick treatment. If you can help feed the dogs at Pepis, please donate here. Here are the profiles of the gorgeous galgos, please share and help them…feed them, find them forever homes. PLEASE

I have put something extra through this month. I know that they are struggling. I know these posts are about galgos and pods but it seems that they are also really struggling to home the mixed breed dogs. When I looked on the site, I could see that the good news is that some of the galgos have been adopted. I fell in love with Django and it’s great that he now has a home in Italy. I do think that some of the little dogs would be snapped up if they were in rescue in the UK. Maybe galgo news readers know of people want a little dog? I have seen that there is a chihuahua, a yorkie, a schnauzer mix, a pug – all sorts of gorgeous dogs – and by adopting one of these then this would still help Pepis. There are some lovely pod crosses, one that tries to catch rain drops when it rains – that is so lovely!

I know Jenny, it is generally depressing. Although, yes, I did read about TIA rehoming 140 dogs in one year, which is absolutely brilliant. Generally though the cuter little dogs are first to go and there really are some beauties at Pepis. I know this is nothing to do with the Spanish dogs (or even dogs!) but my friends knows someone who is involved in Persian cat rescue and they aren’t getting any rehoming offers, everything dried up, which probably would have been unheard of a few years ago. It’s a big problem in every area it seems and what about the horses? Hillside have just taken two groups of horses on. I will be putting a donation through for them.

Just donated a small amount. FYI I’m always tweeting all your articles (also those of Podenco Post) hoping to raise awareness.

Thank you, JohannaW, I am enormously grateful for you tweeting all my articles. I have no idea how to do it and just writing posts etc takes up a lot of time…plus my other writing to publicise the plight of the podencos and galgos. So PLEASE keep tweeting – do you know how to Pinit too?!…all beyond me, I’m just not that computer literate. Everything you share is vitally important to all the hounds. THANK YOU.
