Abandoned dogs – a never ending problem

Another piece of expressive prose from the pen of Alan Brian of Pepis Dog Refuge.

DON’T BLAME ME

I have only had the dog five years, and it never was my pet,
so I have dumped it in the countryside, it will be easy to forget.
I took him to the countryside far from where he used to play,
and threw his favourite ball for him, then swiftly drove away,
he will never find his way back here, it’s much to far away.

Still what does it really matter, he’s only one more stray,
other people do it, they don’t hang their head in shame,
we will say it’s the recession, then I am not to blame,
SOMETIMES I THINK YOU ALL FORGET
IT’S JUST A DOG NOT A PET

Five years he was chained in my back yard,
he knew his place, it was to guard,
so no I don’t feel any shame, nor do I think I am to blame,
he was well looked after, and well fed,
he always got his ration of stale bread.

SO DONT BLAME ME.
