Pepis Dog Refuge has over 26 galgos, including two bitches who arrived in the late stages of pregnancy. Monique has given birth to 9 puppies, Scarlet is at this moment birthing! Here’s a lovely story about one Volunteer who recently spent time helping Jane and Alan at the Refuge. If you would like to volunteer, contact them through the website.

Hi all friends of Pepi`s Refuge!
I want to share my trip to Pepi`s cause for me it was something huge!
Most of all i want to thank you Jane and Alan. So humble and big hearted people! They told me stories about the dogs. Stories about hopelesses and sadnesses which have turned up to happies and forever love.
They showed me that shelter dogs aren’t dogs to feel pity for. Shelter dogs are the lucky ones and happy ones because they don`t know anything better. And why wouldn’t they be happy, ’cause Jane and Alan love every one of them!
I saw it with my own eyes. Even how busy or hard day it will be, they gave hugs and kisses for everybody. I think that it was the most beautiful and important lesson.
I was little bit afraid that I can’t handle my emotions with those sad looking eyes. But these amazing dogs prove me wrong! Even they all deserve a home but for now they are best they can be. And for me..I know that they are safe now.
For many things I learned in the refuge, was to enjoy the moment. Appreciate life as it is. Don`t seek anything special, just look deep inside you. And you can do almost anything if you have opening and trusting heart.
In Pepi`s, there is something that make`s you a better person. I don`t think, I know!!’
Pepis Dog Refuge have over 50 other dogs too….they all need looking after 24/7.

been keeping up to date on this one aswell jane and alan are fab for what they have to cope with
Scarlett has now produced 11 puppies – that’s 18 puppies (Monique squashed one of her 9). That means there are now 100 dogs at Pepis….because they are a Protectora and the galgas arrived heavily pregnant, nothing could be done about the puppies other than to let all the puppies be born. I can’t begin to imagine how 2 people – not in the best of health – can cope with looking after 100 dogs…plus the expense of feeding and vet bills! Nightmare. Please do all you can to help Jane and Alan and the dogs at Pepis.
will pop another donation through when I can just wish I could do the magic one and adopt
