Great that so many galgos from Spain are rehomed, but for everyone homed in the UK, a British greyhound is overlooked. Like this one.

There are loads of overlooked ex racers. The black ones being the hardest to rehome. I sponsor a greyhound at Dogs Trust, Kara. TIA greyhounds are always needing homes for their dogs, 100 in their care at anyone time, dumped by their trainers, strays, off the flapping tracks, rescued off gumtree (where only total idiots and lowlifes would advertise their pets for rehoming). I have a black greyhound and until recently I thought he had been in rescue for 4 years. The lovely man who used to walk him at the rescue came to see us this year because Smudge is cracking on and I wanted him to see him. I found out that he had been in rescue 7 years, went in at 2 came to us at 9. Nothing wrong with him, lovely lad, brilliant with people, all dogs, LOVES little dogs, even cat friendly (although we only found out all of Smudge’s wonderful qualities over the years we have owned him, all we knew initially was that he was a big black greyhound with a wrist injury and nobody wanted him). Well here he is at 12 snuggled in his bed, loved lots but my heart breaks for the dogs who never get their forever home. The overlooked dogs often turn out to be totally wonderful, I have two of them.
