Intimidation is a terrible thing, especially when the result is attacks on people, property, vehicles, animals. It is not uncommon in rural Spain for people who speak out against animal cruelty, make denuncias, to suffer in such a way. Here is a story of just one such case. My heart goes out to the poor lady, and to her dogs who died so horrendously. (Taken from a facebook page Million Paw March for Justice)
‘With permission, We are saddened, shocked, and angered to have to report that the post made on the March earlier of the murdered Galga, Nanou, mutilated and tied to the owners fence in an act of apparent revenge belonged to one of our Marchers. A Marcher, who asked not to be named, who has been with us all from the very beginning. No words can properly express the sorrow and pain our Friend of the March is going through but they wanted a summary of the events told here and the village named.
Being actively involved in rescue is heartbreaking and rewarding and in some cases it can be dangerous. If you are active in rescue and speak out against abuse, you may be subject to harassment and much worse. In the village of ALCAUCIN, province de Malaga, the Galga Nanou disappeared 2 months ago. She was searched for ever since. Two weeks ago ANOTHER of her Galgas , LuLu, was killed in front of her gate by a hunter. A complaint was filed with the police (who are also hunters). Two days after the complaint was filed the local Club President and another member came to this person’s house wanting the complaint withdrawn, offered money and left with threats. Now, Nanou was found mutilated and tied to the back fence.
This person is in the process of moving today to a safe place far from this village. This is devastating. This is a summary of events as we know them now. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. We’ve been asked to March for Nanou and LuLu and we will “For As Long As It Takes” to win Justice!’

These gualgueros are cruel cowards. Their behaviour is despicable and has no place in the 21st century.
Spain should hang its head in shame.

Cowards, bullies, psychopaths. Pathetic inadequate men who think they are powerful by threatening, intimidating, abusing and torturing women and defenceless animals. Poor lady having to move house due to intimidation and abuse. JUSTICE should be served – clearly galguero means SCUM! Lets hope the word is spread about the corruption of the police, hunting club president and local councillors of ALCAUCIN.
