Scooby Medina and Scooby Valladolid – saving galgos and podencos

So how many galgos and podencos did the Scooby team in January and February 2016?  Cobie at Valladolid has been counting.

Maybe you read the news on the Scooby blog or maybe you don´t, but the histories about the trips Scooby makes to save galgos is every time a different one, it´s not that we repeat the same rescues every time. Therefore I put them here again and it’s from January until 23 February, so the rescues from December and before are not included:

10 Jan. Pablo and Cobie drove to Tomelloso, Castilla la Mancha to pick
up 45 Galgos and 5 Podencos.
20 Jan. 35 Galgos were taken from Jerez de la Frontera, sorry, I don´t
know who drove there.
24 Jan. Christina drove to Murcia to bring 46 Galgos and Podencos back.
27 Jan. Julio and Cobie drove to Cordoba, Marinaleda and Sevilla to
come back with 46 Galgos.
3 Febr. Hoober drove to Sevilla, Huelva and Badajoz to bring 45 Galgos to
safety.
9 Febr. Fermin and Ann drove to Sevilla to come back with 50 Galgos and
mix dogs.
9 Febr. Hoober and Rita also drove that same day to that area to save
some 40 Galgos and Podencos.

In January and February we saved at least some 35 Galgos from the perrera municipal and provincial from Valladolid.
And many, many galgos were taken into the shelter directly from their galgueros or saved from the streets…
So in these 2 months Scooby saved at least 400 Galgos and Podencos and we are so sorry for the ones who don´t make it to safety…

The madness doesn´t stop, it looks like it´s getting worse and worse…

Comment – I believe the situation is not so much getting worse as that the galgueros and cazadores now know how much bad press there is against them and their ‘sport’; that associations will make more denuncias about maltreatment of dogs, and that one or two associations will pursue through the Judicial system a hunter who hangs his dog.  So there are fewer hangings, dumping dogs down wells etc. resulting in more and more being abandoned and dumped in perreras.
