Spanish TV publicises the abandonment of galgos

Translation of the piece on Madrid television about the abandonment of and cruelty to galgos.

‘Abandoned, abused, malnourished… So are many greyhounds when hunting season, now in February.  So protective of animals denounce it as Animal Rescue who see real atrocities committed with these dogs.  Some come with obvious signs of abuse and have even had cases of galgos who had started the chip of rennet to avoid being identified.

Between February and June, almost 30% of dogs that are collected in the community of Madrid are galgos.’

If you want to adopt or sponsor one of them, visit the Association’s website: www.animalrescuespain.com

A translation by Paloma Goga of the interview with the hunter at the end of the video.

‘Hunter: Sadly many dogs are abandoned, for whatever reason hunters think they are of not use anymore, they don´t hunt as they should and they are kicked out. Reporter: Is it true that galgos have an expiry date for some hunters? Hunter: yes, because they are dogs that are not going to give you more than what they have already given you. Reporter: What do you think about those hunters than abandon their dogs when they are not of use anymore? Hunter: I think that any hunter proud of himself and that like to call himself “hunter” does not want to know anything about those people.’

What a lying bastard!

Natuarally this hunter does not want to be classed with hunters that are “evil” he was on TV. I would have quoted figures about how many dogs are murdered, abused while they lived.
At least this is being broadcast but how many country people are going to take notice! Only townies.
