The reality of galgo racing in Spain

Galgos in Spain is all about money…money.  Galgos bred indiscriminately to find the best hunter; galgos bred indiscriminately to find the best racer – a good racing galgo can fetch up to 30,000 euros and then stand at stud.   The galgueros bet on coursing – where hares are bred and then released at the site – and they bet on galgo races – Medina del Campo being the centre of galgo racing in Spain.

Here is a Spanish video (warning, some upsetting photos) which shows the reality of galgo racing, the men betting, the drugs pumped into the dogs, the dogs pummelled in the traps to get them fired up to charge up the racetrack….then the brutal reality of their life thereafter.

Please share widely to publicise the reality of galgo racing.

I could barely watch the video to its end so cruel, besides the other videos on a seperated link with AIS, this poor galga was forced to be mated, I am so upset what these monsters are up to against the natures of these poor dogs. I will publicise these videos on some german sites, as lately some persons believe that castration will harm the dogs and all problems would arise when dogs are castrated. Although, these “wise people” will not realize that the problems are homemade, too many dogs at their homes with different needs, males and females together ,uncastrated, etc. Lately it has become an uproar when dogs appear on sites looking for a home being castrated, espec. when at a young age. These people know the situation in Spain, Ireland or elsewhere, but instead insist of the uncastrated dog, taking for granted that the rescue shelters cannot handle this and dogs remain in killing station. It is disgusting denying these poor souls the right to live a life in peace and dignity.
