Manifestation of the protection of animals from Malaga, as more than three hundred people cry out stronger legislation against the abusers of animals.

Galgos, Podencos, animals used as targets for shooting, dogs with collars of hawthorn adhered to the skin, beaten, thrown to their fate, abandoned. This is the reality for which more than three hundred people, some of them accompanied by different breeds of dogs, gathered on the streets of Malaga to cry out for a stronger take to punish those who perpetrate maltreatment without any reason to those which are for many of us our partners in life, animals.

The demonstration was organised by the Protector of Animals of Malaga, although they were joined by multiple associations of the Province, although they were not the only ones. “We have counted with the support of (party animals) PACMA and also we were fortunate to be joined by Begoña Medina, PSOE and Raúl Jiménez of the PP (political parties), who have come to support us. “This 15 years ago was unthinkable and little by little we are getting great things, not at the pace we wanted, but that they are mobilizing,”said President of the Association of Málaga, Carmen Manzano.

“This concentration part aiming to harden the penal code laws which are very permissive”, explains the Coordinator of PACMA, Noemí Pérez, who added “mostly because prison sentences are only two years in the worst case and that can give a message to the perpetrators that they can continue doing what they do without any penalty”. Harden the penal code and show the reality that each day meet the persons responsible for ensuring the safety of these animals punishable. These were the main motivations that drew young people and adults onto the streets on Sunday.

Although if there is a specific living example (or rather surviving) of the reason for this Manifestation, that is the Phantom. “Phantom arrived at Christmas and I think it has been one of the worst cases that we have seen in the protective,” Manzano is sincere. About this, remember: “half of her face was completely shattered, but the worst was on the inside, because we had to rebuild her palate and part of the jaw. All that thanks to our team of professional surgeons. It was very expensive,”he explained as he watched Phantom now run around with other dogs with the feeling of joy that can transmit a dog.

“There are thousands of cases which reach the Spanish protective Adiario. People don’t realize that animals are beings with feelings, just like people. And as such, should have the same rights as any living being. By this we strive every day, to give them protection without differentiating race or kind of animal”, said the President of wildlife Malaga Thanksgiving, Miguel Martin, who could not miss this march which concluded in the Plaza de la Marina.

Wonderful to see these pics. Let’s hope there will be many, many more people in Spain wake up to the fact that animals can – and do – suffer and feel pain.
It’s said that you can judge a nation by the way it treats its animals – I have no need to expand further…………………
