Galgos en Familia was established in Malaga in 2010 by Vera Thorenaar. When my definitive guide to the plight of the galgo was first published in 2010 she kindly sent a copy to the then Queen of Spain! On this link you will find details of the wonderful galgos in their care, hoping for forever homes, ranging from a young puppy to an older galga.
This photo is of Carmen, and here’s her story.
CARMEN THE FIGHTER
Carmen arrived in inhuman conditions, extremely skeletal and mistreated. After doing the blood tests we discovered that she had distemper, she has been very ill because of that but she has improved immensely, and, if that was not enough, she also fought against pneumonia.
After more than two months in foster care, where she has received a lot of love, dedication, patience and affection, and has gained more than 6 kilos, Carmen is almost ready to be able to meet her forever family.
Today we can continue telling her story thanks to the altruistic dedication of our volunteers.
That is why we want to highlight the incalculable value of all our foster home, as in this case the Carmen’s one, helping our most disadvantaged furry to overcome their illnesses, wounds, fears, traumas, etc…
We can only say to all… THANKS, THANKS AND A MILLION THANKS!
